The Lord already Blesses our Fall Campaign
Now that the window for pre-registration is upon us, the Lord has already begun to bless the Fall 40 Days for Life campaign here in Reno. With a single request at a prayer group for the registration fee, one donor slipped me a $100 bill towards our $197 fee, and a second donor provided $50. With $3 from the remaining donor, this leaves us $44 away from being registered. Praise be to God! I truly felt His presence in this abundant and immediate response.
With this money in hand, I began making calls to assemble a team, with the hope that this Fall, our campaign could place a greater emphasis on bringing together volunteers to actually fill the hours at the sidewalk through-out the course of the campaign. Wow, has God stepped forward to let me know that this is His will, and not merely plans of men. Within one morning, I found that the majority of those with whom I spoke, and I called many of you, were willing to commit to making this campaign a success in one way or another. God is Good!
This campaign we will have what I am calling “Calendar Managers” who will be responsible for ensuring that a particular day of the week, for the duration of the campaign, has people scheduled to be at the sidewalk. We will place a much greater emphasis on actually calling people and inviting you to fill the gaps in our coverage at the sidewalk, so that when we arrive at the sidewalk, there will always be someone there, for the duration of the 40 Days. The Calendar Managers will also work with the Church Coordinators (especially those who are new to this) and help them enter the names of their volunteers into our on-line Calendar, so that automated reminders can be emailed to each volunteer in advance of their shifts.
I have had a couple of men’s groups indicate that they are willing to work to assist us in covering the night time hours, so it is my hope and prayer that we will even get the 24 hour coverage that has worked miracles in other cities around the country.
We have also had a number of people step forward to be Church Coordinators, but more are needed. Church Coordinators will help us promote the 40 Days for Life at their home church, making announcements if possible, inviting the fellow church goers to join us in Prayer & Fasting, Constant Vigil, and Community Outreach and getting information regarding events publicized to their church community. It is also hoped that we can continue with the process of having Churches adopt a day at the sidewalk, as this is an excellent way of bringing together people who have a common manner of prayer and worship to bring the covering of Christ to the abortion site.
In addition, those who were unprepared to commit to one of these large tasks, due to other commitments in their lives, have in most cases, stepped forward to commit to being a Vigil Volunteer, giving a particular hour each week to come to the sidewalk to Pray to End Abortion. Once we have registered, I will enter these initial commitments into the calendar, so all can see the progress already being made towards filling the sidewalk with prayer for the duration of the campaign. As you can see, we are more than half way to filling these positions, but there is still room for you to participate. If we each step forward and offer a small portion of help, I fully believe that we can fill the sidewalk with prayer, 24/7/40, starting September 23rd through November 1st.
We also have many many churches that need a Church Coordinator. Please take this request to prayer and consider answering the call to help the campaign this Fall. When we each play our role, the body of Christ is animated in the world.
Contributions Needed
All that remains to allow us to register our community for the Fall campaign is your donation of $44 or a portion thereof. Beyond that, if we receive the necessary donations, we would like to use a formal bulk e-mail distribution system to send out our daily updates. If we do not receive the donations necessary to support such a system, it is quite possible that the emails during this coming campaign will not be sent on a daily basis. We have found that getting out these mass distribution updates has become more problematic as the servers have increased their filtering mechanisms, making the use of a proper bulk e-mail distribution necessary to allow these messages to be distributed efficiently.
We would also like to do another printing of our campaign materials and we are out of Lawn signs and other promotional materials. We would like to be able to make these available to members of the public as we continue to promote the campaign.

August Baby Shower for Local Baby Saved at the Sidewalk
During the final week of our Spring campaign, a baby was saved from abortion and we now have the opportunity to participate in a baby shower for the mother and child. Please continue to watch our updates and I will report the details as they are made available. If you would like to contribute to the baby shower, but don’t anticipate being able to attend, we would gladly arrange to bring your gift to the mother.

It’s said that God loves a thankful heart, and towards this end, it has been suggested that we throw a Thanksgiving Celebration in advance of the coming campaign, especially in light of the success we are already seeing come our way! Would you like to be part of the planning process for such an event? I’d love to find a venue for either Tuesday, September 22nd or perhaps on the preceding weekend, either Saturday or Sunday the 19th or 20th. We’ll also need help with refreshments for what I hope will be a joyful gathering to celebrate life and the potential it offers.
We are also planning to again offer our Vigil Volunteer Workshop, through which you can learn how to participate in bringing the Love of Christ to the sidewalk.
