Abortion Worker Can’t Take it Any Longer – Looking for Another Job
The other day at the sidewalk, those in prayer on the sidewalk were approached by one of the employees of the abortion site and told that she was looking for another job. She just can’t take it any longer. She was invited to join them in prayer but she indicated that she needed to get back inside to work, but would they please pray that she find a good position so she can quit. She also told the vigil volunteers that their prayers make a difference in what happens inside. When there are prayers happening outside the tone of what happens inside changes. Everyone is aware of their presence, and she for one, can no longer pretend that what is happening is OK.

Other campaigns have stepped up and assisted local abortion facility workers when they have finally decided to leave the abortion industry. If anyone knows of a job that we could offer to this young woman please let us know. We’d like to do everything in our power to help her get away from this place of death.

Carson City Abortion Site Feels the Heat
The Tahoe Women’s Care Ob/Gyn & Abortion facility in Carson City has been feeling the heat of our presence. We know of at least 3 patients who attend St. Gal’s in Gardnerville who have left the practice once they learned that abortions are performed by the practice. Most recently, a woman who was a patient there, went to the desk and told them she would no longer be their patient. When the receptionist offered to give her the necessary forms to release her medical records, she informed them that the only form she wanted from them was the form to tell them why she was leaving their practice. She then proceeded to put a long note in writing as to exactly what she thought of an OB/Gyn performing abortions as a part of their regular practice. This wonderful woman has ensured that they fully appreciate the reason they have lost her as a patient. And these women are just the ones we have heard about because they all happen to attend one church in town. What of the others we don’t know about? By being present at the sidewalk, we are informing their patients about what is being done behind closed doors. Won’t you please take an hour during their regular business hours and stand in witness of the lives lost there? With enough patients lost they could rethink their commitment to performing abortions.

And if you ever wondered if what we’ve been doing has been making a difference, well, certainly in the last 2 days the Lord has given us an answer, Loud and Clear. Lives are being saved, people are leaving the business and we are costing them the money that motivates the doctors to do what they do. All Praise and Glory goes to God!

National Campaign Daily Intention

May we come to know that divine life, in relationship, creates human life.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
-- John 1:1-3

"In the beginning" was God. Always, before all times, there was God. This particular God -- the God of the Bible, the God of St. John's Gospel -- is different from all other gods. This God is alive and full of life. This God is not the picture of deadness and death, aloneness and isolation. This God is the picture of life, relationship, and unity. For within this God, within this one God, there are three divine persons who live, who love, and who work -- together. This is the glorious mystery of the Trinity. The Trinity means divine life. The Trinity means three, living Persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- who relate to each other. The Trinity means mutual love and service among three Persons.

The Word was always with God the Father. This Word was, is, and will be the Trinity's second person. The Word is also the Son of God or, as revealed in time, Jesus Christ. God the Father and God the Son live, love, and work for each other. As one, they create "all things" together: the Father creates all things, including all human life, through the Son.

So the Father, through the Son, creates all human lives. The little one swimming in his mother's womb, the infant smiling in his father's arms, the child crying in pain in a hospital bed, the energetic teen running another mile, the old man gasping for his last breath -- all were created, at their beginning, by the Father through the Son. No exceptions. Divine life creates human life.

Thank our clergy!
In Reno, we were blessed to have Sister Carol from Our Lady of the Snows parish join our prayer vigil today. People notice and respect the veil.

It's a major boost when a pastor, clergy or religious joins members of the congregation -- at the abortion facility -- to pray for an end to abortion.

"My own pastor signed up for two days," said Schola in Everett, Washington, "and that was a big deal because it was his very first time."

Anne in nearby Tacoma, Washington noted, "At one shift I observed two Catholic priests and one Evangelical pastor among the group."

This is great news -- and it seems to be a growing trend, as more and more pastors are getting personally involved in this mission.

In Austin, Texas, Bishop Gregory Aymond led prayer at the 40 Days for Life midpoint rally. "He encouraged everyone in persevering in their pro-life activism," said Elizabeth. "His words touched the hearts of every person attending. We then had a candlelight prayer vigil while the band Soundwaves led us in praise and worship. Those 100 candles in the dark city were definitely a light to all who witnessed it."

The 40 Days for Life team in Sacramento sent a photo with Bishop Jaime Soto, who joined vigil participants for prayer outside a Planned Parenthood facility.

In Colorado Springs, Colorado, Bishop Michael Sheridan offered Mass at the site of the 40 Days for Life vigil -- on the sidewalk outside the Planned Parenthood facility.
Michele in Colorado Springs said, "I don't know if any other bishops have done this," she said, "but it was such a blessing that I encourage other bishops to do the same."

Many people tell me how they wish more pastors and members of the clergy would get personally involved with 40 Days for Life and bring the Word of God to the streets in front of the abortion centers.
The best way to make that happen? It's pretty simple. Invite them!
If you haven't seen your pastor or church leader at a 40 Days for Life vigil yet, maybe it's because nobody has asked them yet.

Why not mention it after church this weekend?

I stand corrected (Shirley). Even though I was there, I spent part of the hearing waiting in Assemblywoman Debbie Smith’s office for the opportunity to speak with her for a few moments.

I did not know that an EXTRA ROOM had to be opened up to hold all of the citizens who came to Carson to oppose AJR3 (I just saw the folks in the main room). Thanks to everyone who came. Be ready to SHOW UP the next time this bill raises it’s ugly head. The rescheduled hearing date has not yet been announced.

We have another “SAVE” while Our Lady of the Snows covered today’s vigil!
Donna reports that this morning a Hispanic couple drove into the abortion site. Shortly after they parked the husband walked out to our prayer warriors. He wanted to explain that this abortion was necessary because his wife had had an affair, there was no question that the child wasn’t his and that he just couldn’t emotionally or financially take on raising another child, especially if the child, by being tall, blond haired and blue eyed, was a daily reminder of her infidelity.

Merrie told him that Satan was surely rejoicing over the circumstances that led to his broken marriage, broken family and to the death of this child. After further discussion with Merrie, Carol and the other prayer warriors present which included earnest urgings not to punish the innocent child with death and reminding the distraught husband that there are loving families ready to adopt the child, he expressed the wish to talk with a Spanish-speaking priest. An urgent call to Little Flower parish was quickly made but no priest was available so Sister Carol (who was already on her way to the abortion site) was contacted and she was able to put this man in touch with Spanish speaking Sister Carmen.

The man and his wife immediately drove out of the abortion site. We learned later that they have an appointment Tuesday with Sister Carmen.

Glory to God that this child was not aborted today!

Please pray for this man, his wife, the child and all those who are touched by the pain created in this truly difficult situation. Pray that if it be God’s will for this child to be adopted that a wonderful loving family is found.

What would have happened if no one had been there today?

Jury Declares Abortionist Tiller Not Guilty of Illegal Late-Term Abortions
[LifeSiteNews.com, WICHITA, Kansas, March 27, 2009] - A Kansas jury has declared late-term abortionist George Tiller not guilty on 19 counts of performing illegal late-term abortions.
Tiller was accused of breaking a non-affiliation law that required an independent doctor to sign off on late-term abortions, verifying that the abortions are needed to save the life of the mother or avoid major bodily harm. The prosecution alleged that Tiller's close association with abortionist Ann Kristin Neuhaus, to whom Tiller regularly sent patients to receive the requisite second opinion, turned Tiller's facility into a "one-stop shop" for abortions.
Operation Rescue president Troy Newman issued a statement lamenting that, "Justice has been denied." More

It's Not Over: Tiller Charged With 11 Counts By KSBHA
Tiller could still lose his medical license

[Operation Rescue] Wichita, KS - Just after a jury in Sedgwick County, Kansas, returned not guilty verdicts in the criminal case against late-term abortionist George Tiller, the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts released to the public a petition it filed in December listing eleven allegations against Tiller's license.

According to a statement released by the KSBHA, "Violations alleged include performing an abortion on a fetus that was viable without having a documented referral from another physician not legally or financially affiliated with him; unprofessional or dishonorable conduct or professional incompetency; and commitment of acts likely to deceive, defraud or harm the public."

The KSBHA also indicated that the case they have filed against Tiller is independent from the criminal charges and will proceed in its own merits.

Tiller could have his medical license revoked, suspended, or dramatically restricted, depending on the outcome of the Board's determination. Read more at http://www.operationrescue.org/archives/it%25e2%2580%2599s-not-over-tiller-charged-with-11-counts-by-ksbha/

National Campaign Daily Intention
Let us pray that pastors may not be distracted from the priority of caring for human lives.
Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.
-- Acts 6:1

More folks learning left some yearning.
It is the dawning of a new day. There is much excitement in Jerusalem. Many who dedicated themselves to the faith became disciples (the word disciple means “learner”). The unprecedented church growth was miraculous and undoubtedly brought much satisfaction to the new leadership.

The apostles, however, were about to experience growing pains in their master plan of evangelism.

Projects that engage the community, especially those that are evangelistic in nature, are high on the list of priorities for every duty-bound pastor. Church attendance is a constant concern for every pastor and often his or her worth is measured by it. Unfortunately, just as the original twelve pastors in Acts, they can be so focused on getting people in that they inadvertently end up pushing some people out.

Murmuring is a deplorable deterrent to a harmonious fellowship, yet God used it to get the disciples attention. Those that needed daily attention due to their age and social status were being neglected. This neglect of the Hellenist widows during the daily distribution of food was causing undue grief and needed to be corrected by the leadership. By God’s grace the problem was dealt with, but the lesson remains.

And during these 40 days, let us pray that today’s church not make the same mistake of forgetting the contributions of our seniors, or the needs of the weakest among us, the unborn.

Standing strong in the face of persecution
People often say that the devil doesn’t like 40 Days for Life.

Elizabeth, who is leading the 40 Days for Life in Austin, Texas, has seen all sorts of negativity aimed at the people praying in front of Planned Parenthood during 40 Days for Life.

“We have been cussed at and yelled at,” Elizabeth said. “One lady riding a bicycle past us gave us a huge raspberry for a good 15 solid seconds.” Someone even threw a full drink cup at one the volunteers. Thankfully, this volunteer was holding a sign and the drink hit the sign – and not her.

“Satan is trying his darnedest – and probably throwing a hissy fit – about the light we are shedding into his darkness,” said Elizabeth, “but he can’t keep us down! As we near the end of these 40 days, Austin is as on fire and energized as on Day 1!”

Amy in San Antonio, Texas reports the 40 Days for Life vigil there was picketed. “These atheists stood mocking our prayer and holding pro-choice signs stating the old standby line, ‘my body, my choice,’” she said. “But this actually is a terrific sign that our work of peaceful prayer is making a difference!”

Amy says it’s apparent that Planned Parenthood’s chosen weapon is intimidation. “Right now, Planned Parenthood has noticed a big change in their pocketbook,” she said. “Abortion numbers are rapidly declining and they’ve discovered that we’re not going away. We will continue until there is a ‘for sale’ sign on their property!”

Jesus Himself told us to expect opposition – but that He would acknowledge our faithfulness.

“Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you (falsely) because of me,” He tells us in Matthew’s gospel. “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

Knowing that Christ is blessing us is tremendously reassuring! The idea of Satan having a “hissy fit” because of our prayerful witness is just a nice added bonus. J

The Art of Showing Up!
So much in politics is accomplished simply by SHOWING UP. Politicians feel the heat when their constituents get fired up enough to make phone calls, write emails and especially make the effort to fill the room at a hearing as we did this afternoon in Carson for the hearing that included AJR3 on the ERA. We had at least 20 – 25 people (probably more – I (Shirley) didn’t count) with several of us prepared to speak regarding the dubious legal process ERA advocates are trying to employ (the so-called “three state strategy”) and the many possible negative consequences if the ERA was ratified.

We patiently waited through testimony on 3 other bills and then the gavel was turned over to Assemblywoman Ellen Koivisto (Chair – Elections, Procedures and Ethics). She announced that due to the late hour a primary sponsor of the bill was not there to testify so she adjourned the meeting without hearing any testimony on AJR3. The hearing will be rescheduled.

We won this battle without having to fire a shot! But we still have to win this war so be ready to SHOW UP again.

Those of us opposed to the ERA vastly outnumbered those in favor. Our presence was definitely felt – to the point that excuses were made and the hearing on AJR3 will be rescheduled (probably at a time when fewer of us can show up – they hope).

This bill did not pass out of committee today because we were there. And we will be there at the next hearing, and the next – every time this thing raises its ugly head - and so forth as long as it takes!

Assemblywoman Debbie Smith told me that she has received more email regarding this bill than ANY other in the past 8 years. Thank you and keep it up!

40 Days through Scripture

Day 30 Galatians 5 – Philippians 1
For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not submit again to the yolk of slavery. It is I, Paul, who am telling you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you. Once again, I declare to every man who has himself circumcised that he is bound to observe the entire law. You are separated from Christ, you who are trying to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we await the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

Bishop Addresses Scandal of Notre Dame Honor to President Obama
While this story may be of greater interest to Catholics, the scandal of a Catholic University inviting the most Pro-Abortion President in history to speak at their commencement and then to receive an honorary degree reflects a trend in our society to say “My values aren’t important enough to separate me from the world.” The Christian principle that we are to be in this world, but not of this world is universal and how we as individuals respond when situations like this arise affects the very culture in which we live.

For this reason, I (Carol Marie – but Shirley concurs!) find it encouraging to read this message written by Bishop D’Arcy, of the Ft. Wayne, South Bend Diocese to be a refreshing break from the stale responses we all too frequently read from those to whom we turn to lead us in the ways of Christ. This Bishop has made it clear that we must always choose Truth over Prestige. May we all heed his words of wisdom! His comments can be read here.

National Campaign Daily Intention
We pray for the grace to be strong when others ridicule or oppose us.
Anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
-- Luke 14:27

To stand up for what is right means we stand against what is wrong, and that means that those who love what is wrong will oppose us, just as they opposed Christ. Taking up the cross means we continue speaking and standing for the right even when that opposition comes.

We experience this, in particular, when we are out on the streets, where people are not expecting the pro-life message and where they did not go to hear it.

We must remember to never take the opposition personally. When people ridicule or yell at us, we might get a guilty feeling or be tempted to think we did something wrong. We did not. The insults are not being hurled at us personally, but rather at the truth of what we are standing for, and at the demands of the moral law.

There are many who are trying to run away from those demands, or who have managed to tuck the abortion problem away into a distant corner of their minds where it can no longer disturb them. By standing publicly for the cause of life, we have short-circuited that denial and frustrated those efforts to ignore the issue. Therefore, some will be angry, perhaps not fully realizing why.

Stories of God's amazing blessings:
Elizabeth was staying later than usual during her prayer shift at a 40 Days for Life vigil site in Indianapolis, Indiana. The extra prayers are certainly needed at this particular abortion center.
According to Eileen, the local coordinator in Indianapolis, "the owner of this center is Dr. Martin Haskell of Ohio," she said. "Dr. Haskell is the inventor of partial-birth abortion and is proud of the quick turn-around time" at this location.

But Elizabeth had seen a woman walk into the facility -- and leave a short time later. She was so greatly relieved when the woman walked up to her and said, "I changed my mind."

Those same words were also heard recently at the 40 Days for Life vigil in St. Louis, Missouri.
Maria tells me a woman brought her pregnant daughter to Planned Parenthood. But while they were inside, they got a surprise. "She found out she was pregnant with twins," she said. They left Planned Parenthood, and told the volunteers praying on the sidewalk she was keeping her babies.

A short time later, another pair arrived at the same Planned Parenthood -- a woman and her daughter-in-law.

The mother-in-law was against the abortion, but the younger woman was insistent. A bit later, though, the mother-in-law's face was beaming. "They told us she was keeping the baby," Maria said.

"I told her she had saved herself a lifetime of regret. Her mother-in-law told us then that she herself knew what it was like -- and had told the young mom the exact same thing."

Why is a pro-life campaign asking you to oppose the Equal Rights Amendment?

The ERA issue of concern to pro-lifers is that:

The Equal Rights Amendment
Equals Abortion without Limits

"Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." Sounds harmless enough, but in 1998 warnings from pro-life advocates were proven correct. ERA is simply a back door means of guaranteeing abortion on demand, for any reason, at taxpayers’ expense.

A 5-0 ruling, handed down by the New Mexico Supreme Court, found that the state's refusal to fund elective abortions violated the state ERA. The court ordered the state to pay for all so-called "medically necessary" abortions. Within the context of abortion law, "medically necessary" is a legal term of art that simply means that the abortion was performed by a licensed professional.

Thus, the order actually requires the state to pay for abortion on demand for Medicaid-eligible women.

The ruling was based entirely on the New Mexico state ERA, which says, "Equality of rights under law shall not be denied on account of the sex of any person."

Another fact to consider, whenever an amendment is offered that works to eliminate the abortion issue from ERA legislation, it is always defeated by the same people who claim the legislation has nothing to do with abortion.

Day 29 II Corinthians 10 – Galatians 4
If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus knows, he who is blessed forever that I do not lie. At Damascus, the governor under King Aretas guarded the city of Damascus, in order to seize me, but I was lowered in a basket through a window in the wall and escaped his hands.

Attorney General Opens Probe into Arizona Planned Parenthood, Abortion Abuse
Phoenix, AZ [LifeNews.com] -- The Arizona Attorney General has reportedly opened an investigation into Planned Parenthood after pro-life advocates released another video tape showing staffers at the abortion business covering up a potential case of sexual abuse. The Arizona footage follows video from Indiana showing the same thing.

As LifeNews.com highlighted last week, two more Planned Parenthood centers were caught on camera with staff hearing from college students posing as 15-year-old girls.

Lila Rose and Jackie Stollar told employees at one abortion center that Stollar needed an abortion because her adult "boyfriend" had impregnated her, giving his age as 27 years-old.

Arizona state law requires law enforcement to be contacted immediately if an adult-child relationship is revealed. Failure to report incidents of sexual abuse are punishable under this law. Continue

EU Countries Must Use Embryos Instead of Animals for Testing: Proposed Directive Report says that human embryonic research is a "powerful alternative to animal tests"
[LifeSiteNews.com, BRUSSELS, March 24, 2009] - A proposed new directive from the European Commission (EC) will drastically restrict the use of animals in laboratory testing, and certain toxicology tests on animals will be permitted only after alternative methods, including research on tissue taken from human embryos, has proved fruitless, reports the Catholic Herald.

In its coverage of the issue, the Herald quotes a report accompanying the EC directive that says, "The establishment of human embryonic stem cells in 1998 raised hopes in many research areas, including the development of alternatives to animal experiments." The report says that human embryonic research is a "powerful alternative to animal tests."

The directive instructs member states to adopt "the 3Rs principles: Replacement, Reduction and Refinement" to animal testing. If the directive is approved by MEPs next month it will be binding on all 27 EU member states.

Pro-life advocates at the EU were taken aback by the proposal. Pat Buckley, the European officer of the UK's Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, told LifeSiteNews.com, "This is a shocking proposal and yet another instance of the appalling lack of respect for unborn human life in the EU institutions."

"Animals should never be treated cruelly but to propose that human embryos should be used for research instead is utterly reprehensible," Buckley added. Continue

National Campaign Daily Intention

Pray that those standing in peaceful vigil will extend mercy and grace to others as they remember that Christ did not treat us as our sins deserve.

You have heard it was said, 'you shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
-- Matthew 5: 43-44

Perhaps it is obvious by now that not everyone thinks this campaign is a great idea! In fact, those on the front lines standing in peaceful vigil are perhaps being cursed and hated for what God has called you to do. Because we are all fallen creatures, our natural response may not be as Christ-like as we would hope it would be.

So, how do we keep our natural response in check, while allowing the Holy Spirit to empower us to love, bless, do good, and pray for those who hate us or would do us harm?

Consider first the Holiness of God. It seems that sin has clouded our ability to think clearly about God's nature. We simply don't have a clue of how outraged God is by our sin, what an insult sin is to His person, or how sin fires the flames of His wrath. Praise God that He didn't leave us in our depravity destined for His divine wrath!

Ephesians 2:4-5 says, "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sin, made us alive together with Christ; by grace you have been saved."

Because of God's mercy and grace towards us, we who receive Him receive eternal Hope. Those who curse you, hate you, spitefully mistreat you and persecute you need that same Hope. That is the only way we can ever expect them to behave differently. Ask the Holy Spirit to love them -- through you -- so they are drawn to the Hope that is in you, that is Christ Jesus.

Abortion Facilities Impacted
40 Days for Life is clearly having an effect on abortion facilities across the country.
The abortion center in Augusta, Maine has certainly taken notice of the 40 Days for Life vigil taking place outside. And it must be having an effect, because they’ve stolen a page from Planned Parenthood’s playbook by starting a “Pledge-a-Picketer” campaign.

The Family Planning Association of Maine abortion facility has a big notice on its web page where their CEO bemoans, “Every day as I drive into work and see their signs I become increasingly frustrated.” He then asks supporters to make a donation if they’re “tired of the anti-choice movement offending you with graphic inflammatory signs.”

What’s really ironic is that the web site posts actual photos of the peaceful, prayerful people at the vigil and their alleged “graphic inflammatory signs.”

Take a look for yourself:http://tinyurl.com/dj65tu

(If the abortion business takes the pictures down when they get wind of this message, just know that the only signs read “Pray to End Abortion” and “Choose Life.”)

Not exactly graphic and inflammatory…

The photos also show a few faithful 40 Days for Life participants — and a whole lot of snow.

Now that’s dedication!

Why is a pro-life campaign asking you to oppose the Equal Rights Amendment?

There are many reasons to oppose the ERA and especially the dubious 3 state strategy to resurrect the long dead ERA which assaults voters’ sense of fair play. ERA advocates are free to petition Congress to start a NEW ratification process but it is unreasonable to declare all the old state ratifications as suddenly valid after the deadline for ratification (which was even extended several years) is long past.

The ERA issue of concern to pro-lifers is that:

the Equal Rights Amendment
Equals Abortion without Limits

"Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." Sounds harmless enough [but so do “Pro-choice”, “Freedom of Choice Act” and “Employee Free Choice Act” – aka “card check”], but in 1998 warnings from pro-life advocates were proven correct.

40 Days through Scripture

Day 28 I Corinthians 16 – II Corinthians 9
Therefore, since we have this ministry through the mercy shown us, we are not discouraged. Rather, we have renounced shameful, hidden things; not acting deceitfully or falsifying the word of God, but by the open declaration of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. And even though our gospel is veiled, it is veiled for those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they may not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for the sake of Jesus. For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to bring to light the knowledge of the glory of God on the face of [Jesus] Christ.

Court Orders FDA to Reconsider Decision Limiting Morning After Pill Sales to Minors
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A federal court on Monday ordered the Food and Drug Administration to reconsider its decision preventing minors from purchasing the morning after pill without a prescription. When the FDA made the Plan B drug available over the counter, it prohibited such sales to people under the age of 18.

While pro-life groups were upset the drug was made available without consulting a doctor, they said the limits in selling it to teenagers were necessary.

Today, U.S. District Judge Edward R. Korman order the FDA to make the drug available to women as young as 17 within the next 30 days and to consider reversing its entire decision on selling the morning after pill to minors. continue

Pray that God will bless us with His gift of strength as we respond in obedience to His call.

Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.
If you say, "surely we did not know this," does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?

And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?
-- Proverbs 24:11-12

In this age of technologically advanced communication, ignorance of human rights abuses is no excuse.

We know there are persecuted Christians in China, there is genocide in Darfur, and there are babies aborted and women and families devastated right in our own communities.

"But I can't save them all," you say.

God isn't asking you to. He has equipped each of us with time, talent, and treasure to do what we can when He provides the opportunity.

He has given us His Holy Spirit to empower us as we abide in Him. He is asking us to be on His side in speaking out and protecting those who can't protect themselves.

When we are obedient to His calling to get in on the work He is doing, we will experience intimacy with Him in a whole new way.

Our faith will increase as we see God at work! You have responded to His call during this 40 Days for Life campaign.

Let your efforts be for His pleasure and His purposes.

International Campaigns
Here is a portion of today’s update from 40 Days for Life National Campaign, as sent by Shawn Carney:

When 40 Days for Life first expanded beyond the borders of the United States, I was eager to hear from participants in other nations.

Abortion does not recognize national borders, but it seems that neither does Christ's call to love and reach those who need it so desperately.

In Ottawa, the 40 Days for Life campaign's blog refers to the Morgentaler Clinic as "ground zero."

Dr. Henry Morgentaler is Canada's most infamous abortionist, and his clinic is not far from Parliament in the nation's capital.

Giovanni says he arrived outside the clinic just before 5 am and began to pray. It wasn't long before an angry young man shouted at him, "I'm sorry your mother didn't get an abortion!" He then screamed, "What you are doing here is crazy!"

"I kept on praying and ignoring him," Giovanni said.

As the man walked away, he shouted one final threat: "If you are still here when I get back I'm coming after you!" The guy never came back.

"I did feel somewhat intimidated by all the insults and angry words hurled at me," Giovanni said. "However, at the same time, I did feel honoured to suffer a little, for love of my unborn brothers and sisters, who silently suffer much worse than this."

Remember that persecution is not suggested by Jesus; it is promised. Great job Giovanni! …

Post-Abortive Woman Counsels Friend of Mom at Sidewalk in Reno
I received the following from Theresa, one of our Reno Vigil Volunteers. She had the opportunity to talk with the friend of one of the mom’s who entered the Reno abortion site.
I just wanted to let you know about an experience I had out at the abortion site this afternoon. Rachel and I were there at 1:00 and sometime after that a girl in her 20's pulled out of the driveway alone in her truck. I held up my "please please ask me why I regret my abortions" sign. She read it and drove off. Within a few minutes she returned and pulled back into the parking read my sign again. I'm not sure how long she was behind the walls, but sometime later she drove back down the driveway and stopped. Her window was rolled down and she said "OK, why do you regret your abortions?"... I honestly cannot quote to you what I said but I told her of my experiences, and that I know I had killed three of my children. She said that she had dropped off a friend to have an abortion and that it was too late, her friend was already in the back of the clinic. She said that she herself had a one year old and would never do it but that she didn't know what to tell her friend. She didn't seem to realize that her friend might regret this decision. I gave her some information on post abortion and some phone numbers and websites, I told her that there were people including myself that want to love on her friend. I also told her that planned parenthood lied to me and told me that it wasn't a baby that it was just a blob of flesh. She nodded. She looked a little sad, and a little surprised at what I was telling her. She left and came back sometime later to pick up her friend. As they were driving off she smiled weakly at me. It was an emotional day over all... one girl left in tears. I can only pray that my sign validated her emotions and maybe more.
I’d like to encourage everyone to bring with them copies of our local resources when you volunteer at the sidewalk, even if you only intend to pray during your time there. The Lord has a funny way of creating opportunities for us to share, which appears to be happening more and more frequently lately. Get you copy from our website: www.40DaysforLife.com/renotahoe/resources.

Mom’s with Children Volunteer at the Sidewalk
In further response to our request for updates, I received this from Mary, a mother of a large family who brings her home schooled children to the sidewalk to pray on a daily basis.

I wanted to relay a few things about our experiences while praying in front of the abortion clinic.
This morning, like all the mornings we have been out there, Millie, her two girls and my family, have experienced numerous honks, good honks, from people who are driving on the road behind us. This honking seems to be increasing as the days of prayer and vigil have gone by. What is amazing to me is many of them are high profile business vehicles. I want to let those who are apprehensive about coming out to pray to please do so. You may see the cars going in and out, which at times can be very disheartening, but the visual affects we have had, and are having on all the people, those going in and out, those driving by, and those who are working in the building are making a difference! People are noticing us, people are stopping to talk, people are being awakened to the fact that that place is there and what it is and does.
This morning we had a man stop and say, "do you really think that that is good for your kids?"
Meaning, do you think you should have your kids outside of such a place praying for the souls of the people going in and out and for those working in there? I looked at him and smiled and nodded YES. It made him stop didn't. It will probably make him think about it too. One of my kids had made a pretty funny sign, which has gotten people to laugh going in and coming out. He took a picture of my littlest, with his mouth wide open, taped it to a piece of poster board and wrote on there, "Hear me mom and dad...I love you." It may make them laugh, but it will also get them thinking, we pray, about the child within the mother.
So while it is hard to see many cars drive in, it's comforting to know that in some small way we are making a difference. For example, we see the same UPS driver every morning and he gives us a non emotional look, but I guarantee he is wondering, when he starts his route, "Are they going to be out there again today?" And I'm sure he talks about us to other drivers and his wife, he has a wedding band on. Thus our message is being spread.

Keep up the good work all you prayer warriors, seen and unseen, it makes a difference!!

For Christ did not please himself; but as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you fall upon me.” (Ps 69:10) For whatever was written previously was written for our instruction, that by endurance and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Hoye Remanded to Custody at Sentencing Hearing in Oakland
[Life Legal Defense Foundation] - Today the Rev. Walter Hoye of Berkeley, California, was ordered to serve 30 days in county jail by Judge Stuart Hing of the Alameda Superior Court. Rev. Hoye had been found guilty on January 15, 2009, of unlawfully approaching two persons entering an abortion clinic in Oakland. Judge Hing had also ordered him to stay one hundred yards away from the abortion clinic for three years. However, Rev. Hoye refused this term of probation and would not agree to a stay-away order. Therefore, the judge denied the defense motion to stay the sentence pending appeal. Mr. Hoye was taken into custody from the courtroom.. continue

Oakland Bubble Zone Doesn’t Apply to Reno, Carson or elsewhere in NV
In our concern for all that Pastor Hoye is going through on behalf of all who care for the unborn and their mothers, we have wanted to continue to report on the progress of his case. At the same time, it appears that there have been some who have thought that he was arrested based on a law that can be applied here in Reno or Carson City.

The law that was used to prosecute Pastor Hoye is specific to Oakland CA, and is similar, if not identical, to a law in place in the state of Colorado. One of the concerns regarding the application of the law in Walter’s case is that the Colorado law was challenged in the US Supreme Court and “approaching” as it pertains to this law was very specifically defined. Walter, well aware of the Supreme Court determination of how to constitutionally apply limits on free speech, has been cautious to do his sidewalk counseling within these parameters. The judge, on the other hand, does not appear to be familiar with the decisions of the Supreme Court and has applied a different interpretation of what constitutes approaching the clients of the abortion facility.

But either way, there are no Bubble Zone laws in place at our abortion sites. Therefore, we need to follow the Federal Freedom of Access to Clinics Entrances (FACE) law, which requires that we not obstruct anyone entering or exiting an abortion site. We have always asked that all who volunteer for 40 Days for Life follow the law and not obstruct people either on the sidewalk or driveway. We also ask that you not touch the fence fronting the Reno abortion site, as it is on private property. Following these guidelines should ensure that you fall within the laws while you Pray to End Abortion on the public sidewalk.

Harvard Researcher Says Condoms Do Not Decrease AIDS
[National Review OnLine] We have found no consistent associations between condom use and lower HIV-infection rates, which, 25 years into the pandemic, we should be seeing if this intervention was working.”

So notes Edward C. Green, director of the AIDS Prevention Research Project at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, in response to papal press comments en route to Africa this week. Continue Reading …

Video Vignette
No Greater Joy
The Pro Life Action League has put together an excellent video that walks you through what it takes to effectively counsel women who come to an abortion facility. In addition to counseling women, they also advise that there be a prayerful presence at the sidewalk, holding up their efforts in prayer. The sidewalk has been likened to the modern day Calvary, where the innocent lose their lives. Take a minute, see what it looks like to go to the sidewalk and encounter "No Greater Joy"

Be Heard Project Defends Conscience Clause
[American Center for Law & Justice] — You have strong convictions, but President Obama says that doesn't matter. He's ready to rescind the Conscience Clause.

The Conscience Clause was implemented by former President George W. Bush to give physicians and nurses the choice to act according to their conscience - to not participate in abortion procedures if it conflicts with their personal convictions. If President Obama makes this damaging move, if he reverses the Conscience Clause, pro-life doctors and nurses will be forced into performing abortion procedures, despite their individual beliefs. Send a RED Envelope
Red Envelope Day - March 31, 2009
Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores.

On the front, address it to:
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back, write the following message.
This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion.
It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world. Responsibility Begins at Conception.

Mail the envelopes out March 31st, 2009.

Don't forget to put your name and address on it or they will just pitch them out!

Encourage others to participate. It would be wonderful if we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died [only in the U.S.] before having a chance to live…

It may seem that those who believe abortion is wrong are in a minority. It may seem like we have no voice and it's shameful to even bring it up. Let us show our President and the world that the voices of those of us who do not believe abortion is acceptable are not silent and must be heard.

Noise pollution continues. Bring an iPod (or similar device) or earplugs so that you may concentrate on prayer without the distraction of the foul filth Dr. Stutes continues to spew from his speakers.

Pray whether you are signed up or not. It is most important to pray.
