National Campaign Daily Intention

That we may realize the generational impact of abortion.

Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife because she was barren; and the Lord granted his prayer and Rebekah his wife conceived. The children struggled together within her, and she said," If it is thus, why do I live?" So she went to inquire of the Lord. And the Lord said to her, "Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples, born of you, shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the elder shall serve the younger."
-- Genesis 25:21-23

What an answer to prayer!
Who dares to say that the unborn are not human, with distinct personality and character right from the moment of conception? This account emphasizes the vitality and uniqueness of the twins who, because of Isaac's prayer for his wife, were conceived in Rebekah's womb.

When Rebekah was told by the Lord that the older would serve the younger twin, God already knew that Jacob and Esau would lead turbulent and conflicted lives. God knows us and knows all about us, including our personality and disposition long before we are actually born, indeed, from the moment we are conceived in our mother's womb.

What a tragedy of gargantuan proportions that babies, planned and endowed by the Creator, with distinct and unique personalities and with, perhaps, a future and destiny intended for greatness, have their lives snuffed out by cruel abortionists before they ever see the light of day!

May our prayers that the dreadful scourge of abortion in our land may vanish be as fervent as Isaac's were for Rebekah.

National Campaign News

Thank you for what you’re doing!
During a 40 Days for Life campaign, patterns always start emerging -- like when many vigil participants are blessed with an unexpected "Thank you!"

It happened recently to Chris in Springfield, Massachusetts. "I went to the Planned Parenthood clinic to pray," Chris said. There was only one other person there. A short time later, a young man crossed the street and headed straight for them. Not knowing what to expect, they prayed for protection.

"To my surprise," said Chris, "the young man came up to me and said, 'Thank you for what you're doing!' Most people DO react positively to the pro-life presence at the clinics!"
Pam and Karen expected to be the only ones praying at the 40 Days for Life vigil in front of Planned Parenthood in Riverside, California. But before long, a woman named Bridget came along with her five young children and her niece to join them in prayer.

"The people that drove by were so enchanted by the children that many of them began to wave, smile and even give a thumbs up," said Pam. "As kids will do, it became a game and they began counting each positive feedback as a point. Each time they got another point they would get so excited. They ended up with 25 points by the time their hour was over."

Shelly was having a frustrating day at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Phoenix. She was holding an "I regret my abortion sign," and just didn't seem to be connecting with anyone.

A woman driving past her snarled, "I hope you're getting paid a lot to hold that sign." And so it went for much of her prayer shift.

But as her prayer time was coming to an end, an approaching car slowed down. The driver honked, made a U-turn -- and stopped.

"Uh oh," Shelly thought, as a guy in his 30s got out and headed straight towards her while talking on his cell phone. She stepped back to get out of his way, but he walked up and gave her a big bear hug.

"I just needed to stop and thank you for doing what you're doing," he said. "Keep doing what you're doing!" He then turned, resumed his phone call, got back in his car and left.

Moments later, a woman drove past and gave Shelly a thumbs-up. She then rolled down the window and called, "Keep it up!"

"Even though we may not get huge signs every day that we are making a difference, God wants us to know that we are," Shelly said. "It's working and we're doing something -- especially when we don't feel like we're doing anything."

So, if no one has expressed appreciation to you yet for your sacrifices during 40 Days for Life, please let us be the ones to do so: THANK YOU for what you are doing!

40 Days through Scripture

Day 24 Romans 5–10
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access [by faith] to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us. For Christ, while we were still helpless, died at the appointed time for the ungodly. Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person, though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die. But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinner Christ died for us. How much more then, since we are now justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from the wrath. Indeed, if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, once reconciled, will we be saved by his life. Not only that, but we also boast of God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
-- Romans 5:1-11

Kansas Legislators Pass Abortion Bill, Now Hangs on Sebelius’ Approval
[LifeSiteNews.com, TOPEKA, Kansas, March 18, 2009] - A bill restricting abortion that Kansas senators approved Tuesday 32-6, now falls in the hands of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, a pro-abortion "champion" who has consistently vetoed bills restricting abortion in the past. As the new and highly controversial Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) nominee, Sebelius' decision on the bill may have broad consequences.

Pro-lifers are hoping that the governor, whom Obama nominated as the next HHS secretary earlier this month, may break with her solid pro-abortion record and support the bill with an aim to soften her extreme pro-abortion reputation and make her Senate confirmation more secure.
The legislation requires abortion providers to allow expectant mothers to see their unborn child via ultrasound or listen to their heartbeat, and to provide literature on abortion alternatives. continue

Cardinal George Urges Catholics to Tell Administration: Keep Conscience Protections for Health Care Workers
WASHINGTON [ www.usccb.org ] —Cardinal Francis George is urging Catholics in the United States to tell the Obama Administration to retain Health and Human Services regulations governing conscience protections for health care workers.

This is vital to keep the government from “moving our country from democracy to despotism,” said Cardinal George, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. He delivered the message via video available on the Web at http://www.usccb.org/conscienceprotection and on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NoCRwMqVzQ

Send a RED Envelope

Red Envelope Day - March 31, 2009

Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores.

On the front, address it to:
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back, write the following message.
This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion.
It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world. Responsibility Begins at Conception.

Mail the envelopes out March 31st, 2009.

Don't forget to put your name and address on it or they will just pitch them out!

Encourage others to participate. It would be wonderful if we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died [only in the U.S.] before having a chance to live…

It may seem that those who believe abortion is wrong are in a minority. It may seem like we have no voice and it's shameful to even bring it up. Let us show our President and the world that the voices of those of us who do not believe abortion is acceptable are not silent and must be heard.
