It's the little things.
A young man drives by, and noticing the vigil, stops to sign up. Several nights in a row, he comes back to stand and hold a sign for the babies. When asked if he attends any church in particular, he gives me a simple reply: "No, it's just the right thing to do."

After standing on-site during their scheduled time slot, nine members of a local church youth group stay an extra hour to accompany a woman volunteering alone after dark.

Taking turns warming up in a vehicle, the young people courageously endure the frigid weather.
It's the little things.

People of all ages and backgrounds -- people of all personalities and interests -- all giving a little bit of their time and treasure…

Who knows, this week a baby might even be saved...

After all, when you want to make a BIG difference, it all comes back to the little things.

Life Chain – This Sunday March 15th
If you haven’t already received your Life Chain signs for next weekend’s Life Chain – Sunday, 2:00 – 3:30 pm, S. McCarran & S. Virginia Streets, please contact either Carol Marie (Tahoe City 530-412-1573), Shirley (Reno 530-725-1174 or 775-815-4628) or Katie (Carson City 775-721-2721). Join us as we stand witness to the Gospel truth, that Abortion Kills Children, Abortion Hurts Women and Jesus Forgives and Heals. A $1.00 per sign donation is suggested to assist us in covering our costs.

Noise pollution = disturbing the peace
Dr. Stutes subjected us to a particularly loud and offensive collection of recordings last Saturday morning during the rosary which included passionate moaning, “comedy” derogatory to the Pope and frequent use of the F-word among other vile things. Normally I (Shirley) simply tune all of this out by listening to my CD player, however when praying the rosary with a group it is necessary to hear each other. I was particularly offended because I had my 12 year old daughter and 15 year old son with me, so much so that I filed a police report complaining that Dr. Stutes is disturbing the peace.

Dr. Stutes’ broadcast was so loud that the material could be clearly heard all the way across the median (dirt area) to the Airway Blvd. sidewalk.

The City of Reno has an online reporting system. You can find this at www.cityofreno.com . On the home page select “I want to” and from the drop down menu select “Report” and then “online police reporting system” or go there directly (http://209.247.187.181/Index.aspx?page=1267). It is simple to use.

If you choose to file a police report, please email us the number (just forward the confirmation email) to renotahoe@40daysforlife.com. We would like to keep a record of the reports filed against him and the issues you encounter while at the sidewalk.

While Dr. Stutes has the same right of free speech that we do he is not broadcasting pro-choice or pro-abortion views. He is simply broadcasting the most vile, offensive material he can find to disturb our prayerful efforts.

Coming Events

Vigil of Mourning, March 13, 6:00 pm
Join as we mourn the lives lost at the abortion site and the potential never realized through the horror of abortion. Bring your large sized votive candles and wear clothes in black to symbolize the mourning of these losses.

This is a Catholic devotion of praying for the Mercy of God, but all are welcome to join.

Life Chain, March 15, 2 – 3:30 pm
Life Chain, for those who are unfamiliar with it, is a peaceful witness to the fact that Abortion Kills Children, and Abortion Hurts Women. Women Deserve Better than Abortion, but if they don’t know the truth, they may find themselves submitting to this as their supposed best option.

Additional signs state: Jesus Forgives and Heals; Adoption is the Loving Option; Lord, Forgive us and our Nation; El Aborto Mata Niño’s; Life the First Inalienable Right; and Pray to End Abortion.

As the pro-aborts chant – if I don’t want an abortion, I don’t have to have one. However, if a health care provider doesn’t want to participate in the evil of abortion he or she will be compelled to by law or give up the practice of medicine. Our health care providers will have fewer rights than other citizens when it comes to abortion.

Why is this heavy-handed, totalitarian arm-twisting happening? Could it be that fewer and fewer health care providers are willing to provide abortion services?

Obama Asks Health and Human Services to Repel Conscience Clause
[Human Life Alliance – www.humanlife.org] President Obama has once again proven he wants to be the most pro-abortion president in history.

News came last week that President Obama instructed the department of Health and Human Services to rescind a clause protecting the conscience rights of health care workers refusing to participate in abortion and other related services.

This is a complete sell-out to Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion agenda.

Congressman Chris Smith (NJ), leader of the Congressional Pro-life Caucus, said, "President Obama's move to repeal these regulations targets those doctors, nurses, other medical professionals and hospitals, especially Catholic hospitals, that choose to exercise their freedom of conscience and choose not to be complicit in the brutal act of abortion.

Smith also said patients will suffer the consequences of Obama's attack on the conscience protection regulations. "Women deserve to have the option to choose doctors who reflect their views on the sanctity of human life," he said. "They will lose that freedom if pro-life health care professionals are driven from the medical field.

You can fight this decision by emailing your comments to proposedrescission@hhs.gov. The deadline for submitting comments is April 9, 2009.

Please keep your comments centered on the importance of protecting the choices of healthcare providers who oppose abortion and the need for regulations to implement laws that protect the freedom of conscience. If conscience laws are not implemented and enforced, health care providers may be driven out of the practice of medicine thereby adding to healthcare shortages, and reducing or eliminating women's options to choose pro-life medical care.
