Positive Press for 40 Days for Life prayer vigils
"A newspaper reporter covering our event was asking one of our counselors what she did and if any women ever changed their minds. She replied that she handed out pro-life materials and tried to speak to the women, and yes, women did change their minds. Just then, essentially during the newspaper interview, a woman -- we'll call her Gwen -- came out of the abortion center. Our counselor asked her if she had changed her mind and she said yes! The newspaper reporter then asked if she could interview Gwen, and she agreed."
The most amazing thing about this account is that the reporter for the Huntsville Times, a secular newspaper, wrote the story of this woman rejecting abortion -- and the paper actually printed it! Read it for yourself at: http://tinyurl.com/amyxfc

And “next door” to us in San Mateo, California, 40 Days for Life is front-page news -- much to the amazement of the volunteers taking part!
The local leaders of this first-time campaign thought they would never read a word about 40 Days for Life in the San Mateo County Times, but there it was:
"Abortion protesters hold vigil outside San Mateo Planned Parenthood."

The headline calls it a protest, but it's a fair article that recognizes 40 Days for Life for what it is -- peaceful and prayerful. The story contains the usual Planned Parenthood comment about "extremists," but the pictures in the paper show people standing quietly in prayer. Great job, San Mateo!

Thanks to Little Flower Knights of Columbus for adopting Monday March 3rd at the abortion site!
The Knights were out in force today – in spite of the rain! Many graces were flowing upon our faithful Knights praying at the abortion site as it steadily rained. When I commented during my mid-day visit that it was certainly a Lenten sacrifice to pray in the rain a Knight cheerfully told me that this was Holy Water from above.
When I (Shirley) arrived the group was praying the rosary in Spanish. Unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish so after “Sancta Maria, Madre de Dios” they lost me but I knew what they were praying so I joined in spirit.
I am excited and encouraged by this participation from our Hispanic community. Especially since we have seen a number of Hispanic young ladies come to the clinic for abortions.
On a more somber note, just as I arrived the Waste Management Biohazard truck was leaving. It is sobering to see the remains of the precious children aborted in this facility taken out as trash. How much longer will we have this holocaust in our midst?

Life Chain, for those who are unfamiliar with it, is a peaceful witness to the fact that Abortion Kills Children, and Abortion Hurts Women. Christians are called to stand in witness to the truth Christ gave us, that all human life is sacred and deserving of protection. Life Chain began making this witness known through the holding of signs on public sidewalks in 1988. Since then, this peaceful witness has continued in locations around the world, bringing visibility to the unspoken subject of abortion. Reno’s most successful Life Chain was held nearly 20 years ago, during which over 1000 people stood on the sidewalk raising awareness through-out the community.
We would like to again bring people out to say “Enough is Enough”, but to do so with messages of peace, healing and truth. Women Deserve Better than Abortion, but if they don’t know the truth, they may find themselves submitting to this as their supposed best option. Help us spread the word, Adoption is the Loving Option. Additional signs state: Jesus Forgives and Heals; Lord, Forgive us and our Nation; El Aborto Mata Niño’s; Life the First Inalienable Right; and Pray to End Abortion.
Katie, of Carson City, has stepped forward to coordinate our Life Chain effort. Time is running out, now is the time to order your signs.
- Contact Katie by Wednesday with the number of signs you would like to order for your church, so we can ensure we have enough on-hand for all who want to participate. We intend to order extras so don’t worry if the deadline has passed, but please, please help us know how many to order.
- At this time, it looks like we will be holding Life Chain in only one location, at the corner of South Virginia & South McCarran, so that our numbers will be best reflected. We will be defining the final locations based on the numbers and locations of those churches that step forward to participate.
- If we do have additional Life Chains locations, they will not be located in the immediate proximity of the abortion sites, so for those who are not prepared to stand at the site of the killings, fear not, this is a way you can be a visible witness to the loving message of Christ.
- If we have sufficient participation to merit it, we will have multiple locations in the Reno/Sparks area, as well as a site in Carson City. There is a possibility that there may be a Life Chain location in the Tahoe City/Truckee area, but this is dependant upon an early response showing interest.
- We plan on having a second Life Chain event as our campaign Wrap up Rally, Sunday April 5th, this time with all participants gathering at a single location, most likely in downtown Reno, with our End of Campaign Celebration BBQ to follow.

Join as we mourn the lives lost at the abortion site and the potential never realized through the horror of abortion. Bring your large sized votive candles and wear clothes in black to symbolize the mourning of these losses.
This is a Catholic devotion of praying for the Mercy of God, but all are welcome to join.

[Susan B. Anthony List] On January 20, 2009, President Bush was able to enact important regulations that reinforced the right of health care providers to refuse to provide abortions and contraception if it violates their conscience or moral beliefs.
Now President Obama is looking to reverse this policy. This is just the latest in a series of actions that Obama has taken to weaken protections for the unborn.
If President Obama has his way doctors and nurses all over the country could face discrimination should they follow their own personal or religious beliefs and decide not to participate in an abortion procedure.
This is just the next step in the expansive Obama abortion agenda. Make your voice heard.

Sign-up for Your Hours on the Vigil Calendar
We’ve had several churches or church groups adopt a full day at the vigil site, but there remain many hours for which we need your help. Please, visit the calendar, register and sign-up to join us at the sidewalk. Our Vigil Calendars are located at: www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe and www.vigilcalendar.com/carsoncity for Reno and Carson City respectively.
Prayer volunteers do not have to be sidewalk counselors. Also, we are praying many hours when the abortion site is closed.
Sign up even if you’re not 100% sure that you can make that particular time. If circumstances prevent you being at the sidewalk then just make it up another time.
