We are seeking a second venue at which Pastor Hoye can speak during his visit to the Reno/Tahoe area. If you know of someone willing to host this gentle giant of the Pro-Life movement for a talk on Friday evening or early in the day on Saturday, 8/22, please let me know as soon as possible that you are considering this possibility.
Reno Tahoe Carson City Joins over 100 cities already Registered!
The Reno/Tahoe campaign is heading into another season as we join the rest of the nation and we Pray to End Abortion. We have registered along with well over 100 cities, and the final registration numbers have not yet been reported. I’ve also been talking with friends around the country who have never held a campaign who have been considering stepping forward. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyone who felt there should be a campaign in their town found the courage in Christ to step forward?!
Cecelia Merrill Offers to Coordinate the Carson City Campaign
The same need for courage is necessary in filling our local leadership roles, and have we found the courageous among us! Cecelia Merrill has offered to coordinate the effort of running the Carson City sidewalk. I’ll bet there are some of you who could offer her help in filling the sidewalk! Let’s get the message out that abortions are being done at this OB-Gyn practice. Perhaps they’ll lose more patients and others who may have considered using these doctors will turn elsewhere for their medical care. If ethics doesn’t persuade them, perhaps a hit to their wallets will.

Oh my is the only way to express it, 40 Days for Life this Fall is gearing up to be quite a success! We have nearly every day covered by a volunteer taking the responsibility of filling the volunteer hours at the sidewalk, we have individuals committed to communicating regarding the campaign with the members of their church, and men’s groups are beginning to discuss how they can step forward to fill the night time hours on vigil at the sidewalk. How are you called to participate?

The calendar managers will work to ensure that our calendar is filled for their day of the week, each week during the course of the campaign. They will work with churches that step forward to adopt a day at the sidewalk, helping them to enter their volunteers onto the calendar, and they will be calling previous volunteers looking to fill those hours which remain open. Event Planners
It has been suggested that we throw a “Thanksgiving Celebration” in advance of the Fall Campaign, in anticipation of the abundance of gifts the Lord will rain down upon our campaign, as evidenced by the graces we are already seeing. We’d also like to have another Life Chain event as our Mid-Way Rally, and of course we would love to gather as a community at the end to acknowledge all that we have seen through the Lord over the course of the 40 Days. Can you help us with planning one of these events?
Door-to-Door Campaign Volunteers
In previous campaigns, Donna Kelly, our Calendar Coordinator for Wednesdays, has coordinated our Door-to-door campaign, “an effort I initially participated in with very little enthusiasm” said Carol Marie. “The idea of going to people’s homes and speaking to them about the Pro-Life viewpoint was extremely intimidating,” she shared. And yet those who participated in this aspect of the campaign found that they were far better received than anticipated. This aspect of the campaign has played a large role in the success of 40 Days for Life efforts elsewhere in the nation and we would like to continue to reach out to new members of our community. Now that donors have stepped forward to fund our registration and we are working towards fully underwriting the campaign kick-off BBQ, we can begin to look forward to other campaign needs. We would like to use a formal bulk e-mail distribution system to send out our daily updates for the Fall campaign. We would also like to do another printing of our campaign materials and we are out of lawn signs, bumper stickers and other promotional materials. We would like to be able to make these available to members of the public as we continue to promote the campaign for life this Fall. We would also like to purchase promotional materials while they are on-sale through August, so we can get the most for our donor funds.
Please support the efforts of our campaign, with a small or large donation. I am every bit as appreciative of the $3 donation I received at the July prayer meeting to help fund our registration as I am of a generous $200 donation received by mail for the Pastor’s BBQ. Knights of Columbus & Mens Groups Invited for Sidewalk “Knight Shift”
Local Knights of Columbus Councils are being encouraged to cover the Knight Shift during the coming 40 Days for Life campaign, which runs from September 23 – November 1st to ensure that there is prayer coverage at the sidewalk from 6 pm – 6 am. “If each council steps up for 3 or 4 nights during the campaign, we should be able to ensure that we have 24 hour coverage this time around” said Carol Marie when asked about the Fall campaign.

August Baby Shower for Local Baby Saved at the Sidewalk
During the final week of our Spring campaign, a baby was saved from abortion and we now have the opportunity to participate in a baby shower for the mother and child. If you would like to contribute to the baby shower, but don’t anticipate being able to attend, we would gladly arrange to bring your gift to the mother. The details are still pending, so continue to read your updates!
Fall Campaign Kick-Off Rally – September 23rd 7 pm

Nevada Right to Life Goes to the State Fair Aug 26th – 30th
Nevada Right to Life will be returning to the State Fair this summer where they will continue to reach out to people from across the state, and share with them the message, that life is precious from conception through natural death. Watch for them!

Healthcare Bill Could be Largest Boon Yet for Abortion Advocates
[NevadaLIFE] The United States Congress, along with leading abortion advocacy groups, is trying to cover and fund abortion through the health care reform plans being considered in Congress.
These proposals would also override state abortion laws like parental notification, conscience laws, partial birth abortion bans, informed consent, clinic regulations and more. The push is on to ram a health care through bill by end of this month before the Congressional recess in August.
