4 Lives Possibly Saved in Only Two Days at 40 Days for Life Vigil in Ottawa
In Canada, Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) has undertaken the organization of 40 Days for Life vigils at various locations across the country. CLC's Ottawa 40 Days campaign has seen, according to reports from 'ground zero,' possibly four lives saved since commencing Wednesday.
Vigil participant, Doris G., wrote on the 40 Days for Life blog that on Day 1, a couple went into the abortion facility. But before they did so Doris was able to give them a pamphlet and exchange a few words with them. The couple went up into the centre while looking through the literature, but then came out a half hour later, despite the fact that women who have an abortion are usually in the centre for several hours.

"We can't be sure if the life of a child was saved, but I was greatly encouraged," said Doris. Three other similar incidents occurred, that Doris says cannot be definitely confirmed, but which indicate turnarounds.

Abortion’s Impact on Fathers
On the Ottawa blog, pro-life activist and well known singer David MacDonald writes:
"I was walking with my 'I regret lost fatherhood sign.' An intelligent looking businessman in his 50's approached me. He said 'I am very moved by your sign. I got my girlfriend pregnant at 21 years old. I tried to convince her to get an abortion. Her doctor and the nurse at the clinic tried to convince her. Her friends and family tried to convince her. But she said to me 'it's ok, you can go, I'm going to have the baby'. We stayed together and my son is 28 years old today. He's a great guy and I look at him and think about how wrong and selfish I was. I'm not religious but when I saw your sign it really hit home. I'm sorry you lost your child."

MacDonald said he responded, "Thank you for sharing the story. Even though I lost mine, I still love to hear about the life choice made for other children who are saved from the horror of abortions."

New Abortion Site in Carson City – Tahoe Women’s Care - 973 Mica Dr
It has been brought to our attention that a new abortion site has opened in Carson City. In an effort to “welcome” them to the community, we will be have a second vigil location for our 40 Day campaign, located at the sidewalk entry to the complex in which they are located. We encourage everyone to make the effort to visit the sidewalk to pray that they quickly realize that they and their “services” are not welcome here. If anyone is located in South Lake Tahoe and would like to participate in a similar vigil at their primary business site there, I would be willing to announce your vigil presence there as well.

One prayer group that has already formed to stand on the sidewalk in Carson City is a Rosary group, which initiated out of St. Gal’s in Gardnerville. This prayer group is open to everyone, and meets at 10 am on Monday mornings.

Please register on-line when you plan to stand to Pray to End Abortion at this site, as it helps others to know they can join another and not be alone as they do so. To register, go to: www.vigilcalendar.com/carsoncity.

Tahoe Women’s Care loses patient
At least one patient has left the practice of the Tahoe Women’s Care after learning that they perform abortions. This was a pregnant mother who was scheduled to deliver her baby with the group until our efforts brought this to her attention. This is the perfect opportunity for us to make these doctors, who incorporate abortions into their ongoing Ob/Gyn practice, to rethink the economics of doing abortions.

Won’t you join us as we Pray to End Abortion?

Noise Pollution at the Sidewalk – decibel meter wanted
According to the city of Reno ordinances governing First Amendment expressions of Free Speech the sound level of OUR activities must not exceed 75 decibels. We would like to measure Dr. Stutes noise pollution to see if he is exceeding this level.

Does anyone happen to have a decibel meter that can be borrowed for this purpose? Or would someone like to buy one for the cause ($35 at Radio Shack)? Please let us know.

In the meantime, to protect yourself from this noise pollution, it is recommended that if you have an iPod or other such music player or simple ear plugs, that you consider wearing them during your visit. And, please, feel free to call the police and report the noise violation. If you feel threatened or in immediate danger, call 911. Otherwise, call the non-emergency line at 775-334-COPS. I recommend you program this number into your cell phone for future reference.

40 Days through Scripture

Day 5: Matthew 25 – 28
A devotional taken from Matthew 25:14-30By Brian Larson, Senior Pastor, Calvary Chapel, Truckee

“Well Done, Slave!”
Do you ever stop and think about what it will be like to literally stand face to face with the risen, glorified Jesus Christ? It’s almost impossible to imagine, yet one day we will do just that, each one of us. Believe me, on that day, all that you are going to want to hear from the lips of your Lord, Jesus Christ, are two little words: “Well done.” Those are the words uttered by the master to certain of his slaves in two of Jesus’ parables: the parable of the minas and the parable of the talents.

Based on those parables, the people who will hear “well done” from Jesus will be “slaves.” In Matthew 25:21, the master says: “Well done, good and faithful slave … enter into the joy of your master.” The Greek word that Jesus used is “dulas,” which means a slave in every sense of the word. To have been a Roman slave when Jesus told those parables meant two things for sure: first, a slave was totally dependent upon his master for his daily provision, for his protection — for his very life. Secondly, a Roman slave had only one purpose for living: to serve his master.

Obviously, that would have been a very scary thing to have your life placed that completely under the authority of another human being! There is no question about it, slavery is, was and has always been an extremely oppressive system in this world! But in the New Testament, Jesus takes that word out of the world and says: let Me (Jesus) take that place in your life.

In fact, when Paul wrote his letter to Rome, he began it with these words: “Paul, a bondservant of Christ Jesus.” The word “bondservant” there is the word “dulas,” exactly the same word that Jesus used. In other words, the apostle was saying, “Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus.” In 121 verses in your New Testament, the word “dulas” is used. In every single case, either directly or symbolically, it refers to the Christian.

So, Christian who is a fellow slave of Jesus Christ, because of who our Master is, submitting to and serving should be a joy for each of us, right? A key to having an attitude of joyful submission is to remember His unconditional love and infinite power. Jesus wants the best for each of us, knows better than we do what that “best” is, and has the power to deliver it. So, we submit to Jesus. But how do we serve Him? We serve Him today by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others, by serving them. It’s as simple as that.

So, who is going to one day soon hear, “Well done,” from the lips of Jesus Christ? The answer is anyone -- anyone at all who puts his life totally under the care, provision, and authority of Jesus Christ. Anyone who recognizes that his highest calling in life is simply to be a good and faithful slave, a servant of Jesus Christ, will hear those beautiful words.

It’s never too late to start reading the bible. To get the complete 40 Days through the New Testament list, go to: www.40DaysforLife.com/renotahoe/NewTestament, print it out and get started now.

Obama to Revoke Bush Abortion Rule Protecting Conscience Rights
[Life Site News] President Barack Obama is poised to rescind a policy that protects the conscience rights of American health care workers.

The controversial rule was put into place as one of the last acts of the Bush administration and came into effect on January 20 of this year, the same day as President Obama's inauguration. The rule was universally condemned by the pro-abortion lobby who argued that allowing physicians to opt out of controversial services or procedures would endanger women's health.

The policy protects health care workers from being forced to perform and provide controversial services that conflict with their personal, moral and religious beliefs. Without the policy, doctors, nurses and others could be forced to participate in abortions or to dispense the abortifacient morning after pill, even if to do so would violate their core beliefs.

The proposal to rescind the Bush rule was quietly put forward by the Health and Human Services (HHS) Department today.

An anonymous official from the HHS announced the measure this morning, saying, "We've been concerned that the way the Bush rule is written it could make it harder for women to get the care they need."

The decision was welcomed by pro-abortion leaders.

Nancy Keenan of the pro-abortion group NARAL said, "We have a long way to go before we fully undo Bush's anti-choice legacy, but President Obama's action today is a giant step forward."

Eliot, With Trisomy 18, was Loved by His Family
Every child conceived with a difficult or untreatable birth defect, remains, all the same, loved by God, and for the parents who take the opportunity to look close enough, he can be blessing and bring much love as he is loved by them in return. Watch this blessing and listen to the father as he describes the joy of this family for Eliot, their son conceived and born with Trisomy 18, a condition which doctors often claim is “incompatible with life”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th6Njr-qkq0 .

Sign-up for Your Hours on the Vigil Calendar
We’ve had several churches or church groups adopt a full day at the vigil site, but there remain many hours for which we need your help. Please, visit the calendar, register and sign-up to join us at the sidewalk. Help us fill the hours of the first weekend now. Our Vigil Calendars are located at: www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe and www.vigilcalendar.com/carsoncity for Reno and Carson City respectively. Each calendar tracks users independent of the other, therefore, you will need to register for each if you expect to pray on the sidewalk of each location (although only a single Statement of Peace needs to be submitted). You can use all the same information for each, same email account, same phone numbers.

Prayer volunteers do not have to also be sidewalk counselors. Also, we are praying many hours when the abortion site is closed.

Sign up even if you’re not 100% sure that you can make that particular time. If circumstances prevent you being at the sidewalk then just make it up another time.

If you have difficulty signing up using the on-line calendar tool, send us an email at renotahoe@40daysforlife.com with your name, phone number (for verification purposes) and the dates and times for which you wish to sign up.
