National Campaign Daily Intention

Pray that people of faith will have their strength renewed even in the face of the violence of abortion.
The favors of the Lord are not exhausted, his mercies are not spent. They are renewed each morning, so great is his faithfulness. I say to myself, "The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him." The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait in silence for the saving help of the Lord.
-- Lamentations 3:22-26

Lord, look kindly on your people who weep and mourn amidst the vast devastation that abortion has brought upon our land. We cannot even count the children killed, and the mothers and fathers wounded.

We cannot measure the devastation and corruption abortion has brought upon the very fabric of our society. But we declare today that your favors have not been exhausted, your mercies have not been spent. They are renewed each morning.

Give us new strength today in the resurrection of Christ your Son, that we may bear effective witness to the victory of life! In His name we pray, amen.

President, National Pro-life Religious Council

Local leader brings 40 Days for Life to KSEV-AM in Houston
Elizabeth McClung, the local coordinator of 40 Days for Life in Austin, Texas recently had an opportunity to talk about the campaign on Dan Patrick's show on KSEV-AM in Houston
In addition to leading the current effort in Austin, Elizabeth was part of the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in Bryan/College Station in 2004. In this 10-minute clip from the program, she talks about both of those campaigns — and about the ever-increasing number of young people promoting the pro-life message.

Coming Events

First Saturday Rosary, March 7, 9:00 am
Calling all Pro-Life Catholics (and others who are interested) to pray the Rosary at the abortion site on Saturday, February 7th at 9:00 am. Join us as we pray the Gospel.

Vigil of Mourning, March 13, 6:00 pm
Join as we mourn the lives lost at the abortion site and the potential never realized through the horror of abortion. Bring your large sized votive candles and wear clothes in black to symbolize the mourning of these losses.
This is a Catholic devotion of praying for the Mercy of God, but all are welcome to join.
Life Chain, March 15, 2 – 3:30 pm
Life Chain, for those who are unfamiliar with it, is a peaceful witness to the fact that Abortion Kills Children, and Abortion Hurts Women. Christians are called to stand in witness to the truth Christ gave us, that all human life is sacred and deserving of protection. We would like to again bring people out to say “Enough is Enough”, but to do so with messages of peace, healing and truth. Women Deserve Better than Abortion, but if they don’t know the truth, they may find themselves submitting to this as their supposed best option. Help us spread the word, Adoption is the Loving Option. Additional signs state: Jesus Forgives and Heals; Lord, Forgive us and our Nation; El Aborto Mata Niño’s; Life the First Inalienable Right; and Pray to End Abortion.

40 Days through Scripture

Day 11: Luke 10 – 13
And he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him’ and he says in reply from within, “Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I are already in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.’ I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.”
-- Luke 11:5-8

Scripture assures us that the persistence of our prayers will lead to them being answered.
Join us, be persistent.

New Battle against Right of Conscience Laws for pro-life OB-GYNs
[SBA List] Pro-Life Hero Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) published a commentary in this week’s Human Events. The article points to the new battle against right of conscience laws for pro-life OB-GYNs.

“This week, President Obama begins his assault on centuries of legal precedent and medical ethics, pushing forward in his effort to roll back regulations that protect physicians' rights of conscience. The regulations prohibit recipients of federal funds from coercing professionals to perform services that violate their conscience…

While Obama's strategy to upend these protections threatens many professionals… perhaps the most vulnerable in the immediate future will be America's pro-life OB-GYNs.” Read further

Public Comment on Removing Conscience Protections for Health Care Workers Starts
[LifeNews] President Obama's proposal to rescind a policy that protects the conscience rights of health care workers has now been formally published in the Federal Register, thus opening the 30-day period available for public comment on the proposal. Pro-life groups in the United States are urging concerned citizens to voice their concerns.

The policy, one of the last acts of the Bush Administration, protects health care workers from being forced to perform and provide controversial services that conflict with their personal, moral and religious beliefs.

Senate to Vote Early Next Week on Vitter Amendment 601 on Cutting Planned Parenthood Funds
[LifeNews] Senate leaders today agreed to allow votes on several Republican-sponsored amendments to the omnibus spending bill next week. Among those is an amendment sponsored by pro-life Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana prevent taxpayers from having their money sent from the federal government to Planned Parenthood.

While the money Planned Parenthood receives from Title X funds doesn't pay for abortions directly, Vitter says it still helps the abortion business.

Senate Democrats had hoped to approve the spending bill (HR 1105) yesterday but did not have 60 votes to stop debate because a couple of Democrats joined with Republicans to allow it to continue. As a result, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid capitulated and allowed votes on the amendments, including Vitter's, as early as Monday evening. Read further

Sign-up for Your Hours on the Vigil Calendar
We’ve had several churches or church groups adopt a full day at the vigil site, but there remain many hours for which we need your help. Please, visit the calendar, register and sign-up to join us at the sidewalk. Our Vigil Calendars are located at: www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe and www.vigilcalendar.com/carsoncity for Reno and Carson City respectively.

Sign up even if you’re not 100% sure that you can make that particular time.

Noise pollution continues. Bring an iPod (or similar device) or earplugs so that you may concentrate on prayer without the distraction of the foul filth Dr. Stutes continues to spew from his speakers.

In San Francisco, it was pouring. Ron (the coordinator) noticed that only one person was signed up to pray one afternoon. He’d promised there would never be fewer than two, “so I drove down to be the second person. When I arrived, there were 16 volunteers praying in the rain. One man drove over 100 miles from Ft. Bragg to pray with us in the rain,” he said.

Ron noted that the group included some Hispanic volunteers and that the prayers were alternately said in English and in Spanish. “A most unique and rewarding experience,” he said. “We are so blessed!”

Pray whether you are signed up or not. It is most important to pray.
