National Campaign Daily Intention

Pray for fathers who participated in the decision to abort their child, and for those who did not have a voice, that they would find freedom and healing in Christ.
If indeed you have heard Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
-- Ephesians 4: 21-23

Dear Heavenly Father, We pray for young men who participated in the termination of their child and are broken as You are over their loss. Forgive their sin, Lord, and bring opportunity for healing and renewal of their minds in Christ Jesus. For those suffering from an abortion they did not choose, restore their joy as they learn to forgive others and trust You with their future. In the name of Christ, who heals the brokenhearted, amen.

Impact of Silent No More Day
Without a doubt, the impact of the Silent No More Day during this 40 Days for Life campaign continues to ripple -- beyond our wildest imagination.

In a nation that has experienced some 50 million abortions the need for healing is massive. And the response over the last few days is showing that there is much work remaining to be done.
Those who have suffered after an abortion offer proof that the devastation does not end at the abortion center. It can continue for years -- until Christ's call is finally answered.

Gayle shared an amazing reflection with me that shows how 40 Days for Life -- that means YOU -- led to quite a turnaround in her own life:

My name is Gayle. I am one of countless women who stood holding a sign declaring: "I regret my abortion."

I was only able to do this by the grace of God and your ministry.

I prayed during the 40 Day for Life vigils last year, but was not emotionally able to stand in front of an abortion facility and pray. The guilt and shame I felt was too strong and it kept me hidden at home.

If not for the devotional written by Carmen Pate last spring about the need to reach out to hurting women who have had abortions:
  • I would not have felt led to look at the Rachel's Vineyard web site since my husband and I are not Roman Catholics;
  • I would not have discovered that a retreat was coming up within a few weeks;
  • I would not have spoken to a dear, loving woman who encouraged us to attend the retreat;
  • I would not have asked my husband if he wanted to go to the retreat;
  • We would not have been blessed to attend an incredible weekend retreat;
  • We would not have known that the abortion we both chose 33 years ago had negatively affected nearly every part of our lives since then and that, even after so many years, we were still in great need of healing;
  • We would not have been blessed to receive that amazing healing;
  • We would not have discovered afterward that we suddenly felt called to reach out to other hurting women and men damaged by their abortion(s);
  • we would not have signed up for the Stephen Ministry training at our local church;
  • We would not have been outspoken at church about our abortion in order to encourage a church ministry for people damaged by their abortion experience;
  • I would not be praying weekly during this 40 Days for Life vigil in front of our local Planned Parenthood abortion facility, holding a sign that says "I regret my abortion," hoping and praying that others would be touched and changed by this truthful, caring announcement, and standing side-by-side with so many loving, caring men, women and children holding signs like this and "I regret lost fatherhood."
Praise God... and thank you. May God richly bless you, and may we all be privileged to witness the end of legal abortions in our nation.

Notes from the sidewalk
One of our prayer volunteers wanted to relay some very good and interesting news from our vigil today. Dave had two encounters today, one from the Bio hazard guy who comes in now and then to the abortion clinic. We have always thought he was picking up baby parts but that is not the case and he wants ALL to know it. Dave was there praying and the truck pulled into the drive way. Dave tried to get his camera out as quick as he could to take pictures, but didn't get it out fast enough to get a good shot. He waited until the truck came out and began to take pictures the man driving was waving while he was take photos. The truck pulled out of the drive way and pulled into the dirt on the opposite side of the road. The man got out of the truck and began to tell Dave what it is he does. He reported that he was a Catholic and that he didn't'/doesn't agree with what goes on in the building but his job is to go to establishments and pick up bio hazard materials such as needles, tubing, i.v.’s, etc. He even rolled up the back of the truck and pulled one of the barrels out and showed Dave the contents. He asked that people please know what he is doing and not look at him as a bad guy. In fact he said that one day someone followed him but not all the way back to his headquarters. He told his boss about this and his boss told him the next time someone is out there to stop and tell them what he does so they don't get the wrong idea. Dave asked them what they did with the baby bodies and the man said he didn't know, they don't pick them up.

Does anyone know the applicable laws and/or regulations covering the disposition of the aborted babies? Please contact Carol Marie at 530-412-1573 or renotahoe@40DaysforLife.com as we are researching this issue.

The second encounter was with a woman who drove passed, turned around and came back to speak to Dave and four others who were praying. She told the story of how she had had an abortion in the 60's and how she had brought her daughter to that facility to have an abortion. She wanted to tell the prayer warriors that she wasn't happy with her choice and didn't like what the doctor was doing in there and that she was happy to see them praying. She, however, defended bringing her daughter there because of the person she had gotten pregnant by and the situation, drugs and alcohol, her daughter was in. Dave had spoken to another woman after he had left the prayer site and the woman said he should have given her the number to the crisis pregnancy center because it was very obvious that this woman was hurting and needed some healing. The woman even told the prayer warriors that she has dreams about hers and her daughter has dreams about hers. Please let people know it would be important to carry those flyers with the number on them so that if need be they can hand one to someone just like this woman if approached.

My friends, our prayers are touching lives.

We have on our website a file which has our local Pregnancy Resources, including those for post-abortive women. It has been formatted to allow you to print it out double side and then cut into 3 individual sheets to have on hand for distribution to anyone you encounter who may need the information. We also have beautiful, full color brochures “Before you Choose” which we can provide for free to anyone heading to the sidewalk. These include full color pictures of fetal development to assist pregnant moms in understanding what is happening to her child developmentally at the various stages of pregnancy. Our local information slips easily into these brochures for easy distribution. 40 Days through Scripture

Day 22: Acts 21 – 26
While Paul was so speaking in his defense, Festus said in a loud voice, “You are mad, Paul; much learning is driving you mad.” But Paul replied, “I am not mad, most excellent Festus; I am speaking words of truth and reason. The king knows about these matters and to him I speak boldly, for I cannot believe that [any] of this has escaped his notice; this was not done in a corner. King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you believe.” Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You will soon persuade me to play the Christian.” Paul replied, “I would pray to God that sooner or later not only you but all who listen to me today might become as I am except for these chains.”
-- Acts 25:24-29

Paul demonstrated that even in difficult situations, one must continue to strive to bring those around oneself to Christ, as he strove to do with King Festus, and we see that these efforts have the potential for success. Is it possible that our efforts, even with staunch Pro-Choice individuals might be successful? If we don’t try, we’ll never know and we most certainly will never be successful in bringing them to the truth of the sanctity of life.

Obama Pro-Abortion Appeals Court Pick Hamilton May Have Easy Senate Vote
[LifeNews.com] -- Early indications are that federal Judge David Hamilton, the abortion advocate President Barack Obama appointed to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals as his first judicial pick, may have an easy Senate confirmation vote. At least one Republican has already indicated he supports the nomination.

Obama also apparently spoke with other Republican lawmakers and is said to have earned additional support for the pro-abortion nominee.

David Hamilton is an Indiana-based federal judge who drew the ire of pro-life advocates for issuing repeated rulings preventing an informed consent law from going into effect.
The law would allow women considering an abortion to receive information abortion centers don't normally provide about its medical risks and alternatives. Judge Hamilton's ruling went against decisions by the Supreme Court and other federal appeals courts and prompted a rebuke from members of the 7th Circuit.

That didn't stop Obama from appointing him and it is not stopping members of the Senate from voicing their support. Continue

Cardinal George Urges Catholics to Tell Administration: Keep Conscience Protections for Health Care Workers
[http://www.usccb.org/] —Cardinal Francis George is urging Catholics in the United States to tell the Obama Administration to retain Health and Human Services regulations governing conscience protections for health care workers.

This is vital to keep the government from “moving our country from democracy to despotism,” said Cardinal George, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. He delivered the message via video available on the Web at http://www.usccb.org/conscienceprotection/ and on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NoCRwMqVzQ

Red Envelope Day - March 31, 2009

Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores.

On the front, address it to:
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington , D.C. 20500

On the back, write the following message.
This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion.
It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world. Responsibility Begins at Conception.

Mail the envelopes out March 31st, 2009.

Don't forget to put your name and address on it or they will just pitch them out!

Encourage others to participate. It would be wonderful if we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died [only in the U.S.] before having a chance to live…
It may seem that those who believe abortion is wrong are in a minority. It may seem like we have no voice and it's shameful to even bring it up. Let us show our President and the world that the voices of those of us who do not believe abortion is acceptable are not silent and must be heard.
