National Campaign Daily Intention
Let us affirm the unborn children by our language.
Anyone who says to his brother, “Raca,” is answerable to the Sanhedrin…anyone who says, “You fool!” will be in danger of the fire of hell. — Matthew 5:22
Before the schoolyard bully beats up his victim, he calls him names. This is a way to dehumanize the victim, and therefore make it easier to justify at tacking him. In this verse from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says that using dehumanizing language is sinful. “Raca” was an Aramaic term of contempt. The respect and love we are called to have for other human lives is not limited to action alone; it also has to manifest itself in language. Professor William Brennan, in his book Dehumanizing the Vulnerable: When Word Games Take Lives, traces the de-humanizing language used to oppress various groups of people in history, such as our African-American brothers and sisters, or our Jewish brothers and sisters in the Holocaust.
He then shows that the same kind of dehumanizing language is used against the unborn, who have been called “parasites,” “tissue,” and “medical waste,” among other things. What are we to do instead? We are to affirm one another, including the un‐born, with ennobling language that inspires respect and love. The unborn are precious children, they are our brothers and sisters, they are the image of God. Let us multiply the language of affirmation, as we hasten to the day of their protection!

Defending the Truth
Yesterday I visited the Toledo, Ohio 40 Days for Life campaign and in a few hours I'll be jumping on an airplane to Jacksonville, Florida, where I'll be joining the 40 Days for Life volunteers on the streets as part of their vigil. It always amazes me to see so many people "speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves." While running across the country visiting 40 Days for Life locations, I have to admit that I keep thinking about the banner at the Planned Parenthood abortion center in St. Louis that I told you about earlier this week -- the one that says "defend the truth." I keep waiting for the day when everyone knows the truth and there's no one left to defend what goes on at Planned Parenthood and hundreds of other abortion centers in North America and throughout the world.
The good news is that more people are learning the truth -- thanks to you!
In Riverside, California, people who were praying at the 40 Days for Life vigil watched as a young woman entered the Planned Parenthood abortion center. A couple of hours later, she came out. A pastor who was praying with the group met her and asked if she needed anything. She told him she had come for an abortion, but changed her mind. The Planned Parenthood staff told her they would give her a shot that would stop her baby's heart. She said, "WHAT?" The young woman knew right away she could not go through with the abortion, so she got up and left. In her heart, she knew the truth.
In Kalispell, Montana, one of the vigil participants had a chance to talk with a man whose company provided contract services for All Families Healthcare. It was news to this man that All Families Healthcare was in the abortion business. He said he would have never signed a contract with the clinic if he had known the truth. He thanked the people praying for taking part in 40 Days for Life -- and assured them that he would not be renewing his contract with the clinic.
The reality of abortion in most communities is that many people are simply unaware that it's going on in their city. "Abortion" is somebody else's problem -- or a political issue, perhaps. It doesn't seem real. People seem to act like it's something that involves people you don't know and places you've never been. But of course, that isn't the truth. That's one of the reasons why community outreach is a key component of 40 Days for Life.
In Halifax, Nova Scotia, the 40 Days for Life team went door-to-door to let people in their city know about the campaign -- and to ask them to pray. "Most people are a little surprised at such a request," said Julie. "And most are polite -- probably thinking that if they are nice, we will leave quickly." The volunteers offer a fact sheet about 40 Days for Life that also includes information about abortion that people generally do not know. "This went much better than I anticipated," she said. "No one I met had even heard of the vigil or noticed it, so this really is a way to raise community awareness of the prayer vigil and to bring the neglected issue of abortion before the public."
The truth will ALWAYS triumph over the big lie of abortion. So let's spread more of the truth!

Sidewalk Covered in Prayer Elicits Many Conversations
One of the unexpected benefits of having so many people standing in prayer, and most days, there have been many people standing at the sidewalk in prayer through-out the day, is that it piques peoples curiosity and they stop to ask questions. The other day Sr. Carol was at the sidewalk in her habit and people took notice.
I also received word from Dave who was at the sidewalk and had a young man come by walking his dog and shaking his head. Uncertain what was the cause of this man’s shaking head, Dave approached him for clarification and asked if he had any questions. “I can't wait until all you people die off” Dave was told. He asked him to repeat himself, uncertain that he’d heard correctly. Sadly, he had. What ensued was a conversation that at points resulted in this young man’s lip beginning to quiver, before he managed to again focus his anger against those who attempted to gently share the truth. During the course of the conversation, several of the other prayer volunteers came and joined the conversation, which at points became heated. Dave prays that next time he will do a better job of maintaining his composure but I pray that by simply being there to engage in a discussion on the topic, and by having the logic of truth on our side, that this young man will be ready to consider the points raised in the conversation they had at the sidewalk.
If you’re encountering a difficult person while at the sidewalk, may I ask that you remember the primary purpose of our time there, and that is to pray. Therefore, ask God for the grace to remain in prayer while you are listening to a person rant. Remember that anger frequently masks pain, and that by simply raising the subject of abortion, by merely mentioning the word, we are forcing people to confront their own decisions, decisions they may be having difficulty living with, children they may be refusing to admit they miss, because they know they are the reason these children are not living, and the knowledge of this truth is too difficult to bear. It is therefore easier, until they are forced to face the weakness of their own arguments in support of their decision, to blame their pain on those of us who stand to honor the children they fear acknowledging.
You Could Be Exactly the Person Needed to Fill the Sidewalk
Your hour could be the difference needed to fill the sidewalk with uninterrupted prayer today and tomorrow. Won’t you come and pray? To register for the hours when you’ll be at the sidewalk, go to: http://www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe I thank you in advance for your support.
Send your impressions of your time at the sidewalk to renotahoe@40DaysforLife.com.
Adopt A Day Remains the Most Efficient Way to Grow the Campaign
Did you know that the Adopt-A-Day program is one of the surest ways we have to fill the sidewalk at the abortion site with constant prayer? And this prayer is having an effect. People are noticing, the abortionist is having to reflect on what he’s doing for a living, the women entering the abortion site are having to consider the impact of their decision to abort. Help us fill the schedule, bring Adopt-A-Day to your church.
Please approach your pastor and ask to make announcements at church this weekend, inviting others to come and Pray to End Abortion. For further support on how to coordinate adopting a day, go to: www.40DaysforLife.com/RenoTahoe/AdoptaDay or to get the procedure in PDF format, go to: www.40DaysforLife.com/RenoTahoe/AdoptaDay.pdf.

40 Days through Scripture
- Day 10: Luke 5 – 9 (including: Luke 6:27-36)
- But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount. But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Remember that while we may not like what is being done to the babies at the abortion site nor do we enjoy it when we have sprinklers turned on us, or we are serenaded with George Carlin, we are there to love those who do not yet appreciate the Love of Christ, we are there to bless them and pray for them. We want to offer love and support to the women and if a clinic worker is looking for an alternate job, we want to be prepared to go out of our way to help them change careers. This is how we can give witness to the Love of Christ when we gather at the sidewalk.

God Working Through Us
[Survivors] True confessions — first things first: Finding the right words while speaking does not come easy to me. I have a hard time putting ideas I am trying to express into words. I tend to slaughter words as they come out of my mouth. My inability to express myself was something that I almost allowed to prevent me from joining the Campus Life Tour. How glad I am that I didn’t let it keep me from this amazing work! I have been involved with Survivors for almost three years and God has shown me time and time again that He can use my flaws for His glory. Continue Reading

Crisis Pregnancy Center – Sydna Masse Spoke
Last night, Thursday, the Reno Crisis Pregnancy Center held a banquet dinner highlighting Sydna Masse of Ramah International who is so impressed with the work they’re doing locally that she offered to speak at their banquet for free. Sydna came all the way from Englewood Florida to share her testimony of healing through the forgiveness of Christ from the pain she has suffered after an abortion she had as a young woman. After working with Focus on the Family for several years, she launched out onto her own and founded Ramah International to reach out to Post Abortive Women.

The Demographic Bomb, a sequel to The Demographic Winter
Here is a video that demonstrates with facts and figures why the current economic crisis has been a long time in the making and was predicted by those who have been watching the world demographics. And far from being the result of too many people being born, our troubles are the result of the population control policies that have been in place since the 70’s “Population Explosion” myth was first perpetuated. Watchand share. If you haven’t already seen the Demographic Winter, it too is a must see. It an be seen here.
