National Campaign Daily Intention

May God’s justice sober our society; may mercy triumph over judgment.

Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man's brother I will require the life of man. Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; for in the image of God He made man.— Genesis 9:5-6

The value of every human being can hardly be seen more clearly than with this verse. God, the King of the universe, has created all human beings in his image, and declares forthrightly that shedding the blood of any individual will require the blood of the one who shed it.

God's concern for human beings is not limited to any particular group. In‐deed, his concern is universal, and includes male and female, young and old, born and unborn, disabled and able‐bodied, the citizens of every nation on earth.

Abortion, the deliberate killing of the unborn, is the shedding of innocent blood. Surely the blood of millions upon millions of innocent children cries out to God. It is true that we live in an age of grace, and yet this passage (among many other texts which ex‐press similar sentiments) should give every thinking Christian pause.

Christians of all people, entrusted with the Word of God as we are, must take a stand. We must speak out. We must do all that we can to protect the innocent, to pursue justice, and to encourage the repentance of all those who bear responsibility for this great evil.

Only in this manner can we hope to forestall the judgment that must otherwise surely come.

This passage should also be seen as an encouragement to educate and disciple our children and grandchildren about what it means to be human, and the responsibility that will become theirs in this ongoing struggle.

National Campaign News

Midpoint of the Campaign – 219 saves thus far

The National campaign reports on how the campaign is progressing around the country. Here is an excerpt from today’s update.

Brian in Norwich, Connecticut put out the call to the 40 Days for Life team. "This Saturday, Planned Parenthood is holding their annual two-hour demonstration against us," he wrote. "Please come and show your support for life." A small handful of Planned Parenthood demonstrators—some of them paid Planned Parenthood employees—did indeed show up. But they were vastly outnumbered by people who answered the call to pray for an end to abortion. The Norwich Bulletin published one photo of the event that is quite telling. In the foreground there are a few people holding pink Planned Parenthood signs. Behind them, however—and stretching far into the distance along the sidewalk—are people peacefully praying."

Local Campaign News

Speak Through Me Lord

By all accounts, as we hit the midpoint of the campaign, today was a special day at the sidewalk in Reno! Katie called to say that she was there in the early afternoon and expected to be alone, only to find that there were several others already there, one of whom she was able to get information to put him into our calendar and the other wished to remain anonymous in her effort.

Then, as 3:00 rolled around, things really picked up at the sidewalk, even as the clinic remained closed for the day. Before coming to the sidewalk, Rachel had really felt herself tempted to simply skip the effort for the day. She raised up a prayer as she headed to the sidewalk, concerned that she wouldn’t see the number of people she knows this issue deserves, “Lord send your people out”. Rose took time to come out between school and soccer practice and Laura and Kenny came to spend an hour together in prayer. None expected what the day had in store for them. Three o’clock started with Rose and Laura praying the rosary together, while Rose found her mind wandering, while staring at the tree she has come to know so well, asking God if anything would ever change, if her efforts standing here in prayer for the past 5 years were having any effect.

It was then that things began to happen. A car drove up and a woman got out to question what they were doing and why they thought they had a right to stand in judgment of the women coming to the abortion site. At about this time, Rachel’s prayer was “Speak Through Me” after which according to others present, she did an excellent job of answering each point raised by the woman with questions. Then Rachel’s earlier prayer was further answered, and another woman drove up to comment that she greatly appreciated their presence at the sidewalk. She indicated that she herself was post-abortive and through Christ and a Post Abortive Counseling and Education (PACE) program offered by the Reno CPC, she has come to appreciate the forgiveness of the Lord and the wrongness of her “choice.” Rachel told her what was happening with this other woman and asked if she’d be willing to take a minute to share her story. She did in fact pull her car over, and joined in the conversation, explaining how abortion is never the right “choice.”

They also asked the woman if she was a sister in Christ, and they were told that she was in fact a believer. “Are we not called to ‘Rescue those who are taken away to death?’ ” (Proverbs 24:11) she was asked, “especially when you take into account that we have been created in the image and likeness of God Himself.” The last thing Rachel heard this unknown witness to Christ’s love say, as she left was that she had to hurry off, as she running late to give her witness to inmates at jail.

By the time Rose left to get to her soccer practice, she knew, without a doubt that her time here at the abortion site is making a difference, it does matter. And upon reflection on the day, Rachel knows that the more tempted she is to not go to the sidewalk, the more she is meant to be there. Each time she finds herself battling with herself in advance of going out, something big happens.

So, if you’ve found you have one excuse after another to not go to the sidewalk, if you’re questioning if it really matters, if you’re uncertain that you’d even know what to say if someone did ask you why you were there, know that you can make the time, it does matter and all you need to do is pray that God use you for His purposes.

Please, spend an hour at the sidewalk tomorrow and then send an email telling about your experiences! Carson City Campaign Continues to Climb

Cecelia wrote to say that things are continuing to progress in Carson City, with Tom Jones, of Carson City Florist asked if it really matters if he is at the sidewalk to pray in the evenings after the abortion site is closed for business. Cecelia’s response: “I told him YES! I explained that his prayers count anytime and that he may be letting neighbors know what’s going on in their community and may encourage someone to have a change of heart.” She went on to share “we have a pro choice person showing up in the evening who is trying to engage our prayer warriors!” Her advice to those who encounter this person, “I advised them to just stick to praying silently and not get hooked by her nasty remarks.” Cecelia reminds those who come to the sidewalk in Carson City that we are there to pray peacefully and lawfully, that we come to share the Love of Christ and she reminds them of the Statement of Peace that each participant is requested to sign. If you have not yet signed a Statement of Peace, you can do so now on-line, by going to:

40 Days through Scripture

Day 20: Acts 10 - 15 (including: Acts 10:39-49)
We are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree. This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible, not to all the people, but to us, the witnesses chosen by God in advance, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.

While Peter was still speaking these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the word. The circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit should have been poured out on the Gentiles also, for they could hear them speaking in tongues and glorifying God. Then Peter responded, “Can anyone withhold the water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit even as we have?” He ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they invited him to stay for a few days.

We need to remember that God, just as he extended salvation from the Jews to the Gentiles, seeks to use us to proclaim His Kingdom to the unbelievers, so that they too can come to receive the forgiveness of their sins, through the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior.

Have your reached out in Holy boldness and shared the truth of the Gospel of Life with someone you know, doing so with Love for the one who doesn’t yet understand that God desires that every parent love their child, as He the Father Loves them? It is ever important that we strive to share the truth of beauty of each human life, from the moment of conception, for God formed us in the image and likeness of God, and He knew each of us before He formed us in the womb.

New York Times Addresses Pro-Life Street Ministry

[as reported by LifeNews.com] New York Times is well-known for its pro-abortion bias, but the Gray Lady is drawing praise from pro-life advocates after a news story and an online pictorial that includes pictures showing babies who are victims of abortions. One prominent pro-life advocate says she believes the Times is the first major mainstream media outlet to show them. On Saturday, the New York Times included a front-page, above-the-fold news story that presents a strangely fair portrayal of pro-life advocates who engage in street activism. Meanwhile, the Times' Photography, Video, and Visual Journalism online section features a photo montage showing the pictures of babies who died in abortions. Monica Migliorino Miller, a Michigan pro-life advocate and professor at Madonna University, has taken so many pictures of babies killed in abortions she is regarded as an expert of sorts. She told LifeNews.com over the weekend that the Times show and online pictorial is "nearly unprecedented in 37 years of legalized abortion." Full story at LifeNews.com.

My favorite quote from the New York Times article was: “… But Mr. Gallagher, 60, a white-bearded father of six, disagreed. He said Christianity must be emphasized because churches are the only institutions with the power to put abortion clinics out of business. Like Mr. Pouillon, who often protested outside congregations on Sunday mornings, Mr. Gallagher said far too many Christians nodded, but did not act.

‘It really can end,’ he said of abortion, ‘if all the Christians just went out there for seven days in a row to tell the truth peacefully.’ ” Read the New York Times article on-line.
