National Campaign Daily Intention
We pray for the conversion of all those who refuse to acknowledge that human life belongs only to God.
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” — Jeremiah 1:4-5
To be or not to be? There is no question!
The question of “being” is something philosophers have long pondered. What is the meaning of being and what is the source? In the passage before us, we have our answer. We have being because we are known by God. For God to declare that he knows and sets apart the prophet Jeremiah even before he is conceived indicates that our being rests in God’s own being. Because He is and because He wills we, therefore, are and do. The Apostle Paul says as much when he declares before the philosophers of his day, “In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
One of the tragedies of the abortion culture is that life in the womb has been so heartbreakingly devalued. To embrace the arguments of the “pro‐choice” crowd one must conclude that the child in the womb doesn’t exist, isn’t there, has no being. But nothing could be further from the truth. That child is known by God and, as such, has being.

The Truth Always Works & 288 Lives Saved
The National campaign reports on how the campaign is progressing around the country. Here is an excerpt from today’s update. In the meantime, there have been 288 lives saved thus far.
Planned Parenthood slipped up. I'm often told that abortion facilities use ultrasound to let the abortionist know how far along the pregnancy is—it apparently makes a difference in how the abortion will be performed. But the images are for staff only—not the mother of the child whose life is at risk. So please keep that in mind.
As a 40 Days for Life prayer vigil was under way, a young woman walked towards the Planned Parenthood facility in Sarasota, Florida with two friends. She accepted some information about abortion from a sidewalk counselor—but she may have just taken it so the counselor would leave her alone. As she entered the abortion center, she handed the packet to a Planned Parenthood staffer—who quickly tossed it in the trash.
About 45 minutes later, however, the woman and her friends came back out. "They made the mistake of letting her see the ultrasound picture," said one of the friends, "and she couldn't go through with it."
The group then asked if they could have another information package. "She wasn't planning on keeping the child," the friend explained, "so now she needs someone to help her." That's exactly what happened next. The counselor told them of several nearby pregnancy resource centers that could offer assistance for this mother and her baby.
"As they left," said Jeanne in Sarasota, "they seemed pleased. No direct action by any one of our sidewalk counselors helped save this baby. But the potential effect of the prayers of several people on the sidewalk can't be dismissed."

Local Campaign News
God Gave us a Gorgeous Evening for a Rally & News to Warm Your Heart!
The weather couldn’t have been better for a Midway Rally as we gathered to the sounds of birds in the brush and the brilliant colors of a gorgeous sunset. The air was pleasantly warm, a nice change from our recent cold snap which has left snow covering the top of Mt. Rose in the background. This was coupled by the news that the Pro-Life movement in the great state of Nevada has been moving forward, even as our national scene has held such frightening prospects on the Pro-Life front. We promised that tonight’s rally would have big news, and those in attendance agreed we kept our promise.
Coming out of Las Vegas, a movement is pushing forward to have placed on the ballot of the 2010 elections, an initiative to change the constitution of the state to ensure that all human beings be recognized as persons and be legally entitled to the protections this provides. This movement will be looking forward to having volunteers step forward to assist with the task of gathering petition signatures and otherwise assisting in moving this effort forward. See the article below (Nevada News) for further details.
In addition to this news of significance to the entire state, several things of interest to us regarding our own sidewalk we brought forward during the evening. Several volunteers noted having seen a series of crosses highlighting the field across Airway Extension and a single, very large (3 feet high) cross in the dirt lot between Airway and Tyrone Road, directly in front of the abortion site. These crosses were a great consolation to the volunteers who came to pray under their shadow and silent watch.
The reaction by those who make a living inside the abortion facility had an altogether different take on the situation and it was reported that Dr. Stutes personally came out of the abortion site, drove his car around to the other side of airway where he parked, along with several of his employees, and they proceeded to dismantle each cross with great violence and in some cases, grave sacrilege. It leaves one to wonder just what he thinks as he makes his various grotesque and disturbing gestures, as he reacts so violently to the sign of a cross in his vision. If he didn’t believe in the power of the cross, one would think that the sight of the cross would simply be dismissed, ignored as something of little or no consequence. And yet, Dr. Stutes and his employees reacted strongly to the witness of a simple cross made of wood and planted in the ground, supported by a pile of rocks.
He even went so far as to load the pieces of wood into a bin on the back of his car, along with the rocks that supported them, so that these items would not be available to be used once again to form crosses. I have often wondered about the displays of hundreds of white crosses that are so effectively used as a public display of the lives lost to abortion. There is at least one Pro-Life vendor who makes such a display available at a reasonable cost. Does anyone know who owns the field directly across from the abortion site, or what it would take to get permission to put up a display of crosses to supplement our prayer vigil? It seems like the witness of Christ through the symbol of the Cross is having an impact.
The final benefit for those in attendance at tonight’s Midway Rally was the opportunity to fellowship with others who are willing to stand up for the unborn. Those in attendance enjoyed sharing prayer and scripture, news at the state and local level and sharing the common bond of our love of Christ and our willingness to boldly proclaim the truth that scripture so clearly proclaims, that all men are created in the image and likeness of our Creator, and that He has known us since before we were formed in the womb. Be certain to join us at our Wrap-up event, coming on Sunday, November 1st, as we celebrate all that God has accomplished through this campaign, and as we look forward to all that God has in store for us as we continue to Pray to End Abortion.
Prayer Volunteers have Been Steady at the Sidewalk
Due to the fact that some of the effort to maintain this campaign is being done from a distance, there are times when it is not always readily apparent what is happening at the sidewalk, especially at those times when those who are at the sidewalk are humble and choose not to share their experiences. And then it all comes out, when the reality of just how many volunteers are gathering to pray through-out the day, through-out the week, as those who have never previously taken part in a pro-life effort come forth to join us as we Pray to End Abortion is brought forward for all to know.
Wednesday’s are continuing to be filled with volunteers, primarily from the Our Lady of Snows Parish, and today (Saturday) the sidewalk was filled with prayer volunteers from the MOM’s group that meets at Immaculate Conception. One participant in the rally heard from someone at her work that there were nearly 20 people seen at the sidewalk during the course of the day, and she wondered what event she was missing, only to learn that this was simply the result of this group of women answering the call to come and pray.
And the middle of the night, while not covered every night, is being covered by one very special volunteer who has committed to being at the sidewalk one night each week, from midnight until 6 am the next morning. This commitment is being quietly made, without desire for accolades or attention, in the simple, quiet knowledge that God answers prayer and allows us to offer our sacrifices in union with the sacrifice of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, who humbled himself to die on the cross for our sins.
Are you prepared to sacrifice some of your time, some of your comfort to Pray to End Abortion? Please, spend an hour or more at the sidewalk tomorrow and send an email telling about your experiences! To register for the hours when you’ll be at the sidewalk, go to: http://www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this effort. 40 Days through Scripture
- Day 25 Romans 11 – 1 Corinthians 1 (including: Romans 15:1-6)
- We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves; let each of us please our neighbor for the good, for building up. For Christ did not please himself; but as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you fall upon me.” (Ps 69:10) For whatever was written previously was written for our instruction, that by endurance and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Personhood Nevada – A Constitutional Amendment
[PersonhoodNevada.com] – Personhood Nevada is pleased to announce a citizen-led initiative to amend the Constitution of the State of Nevada. The proposed amendment reads as follows: “In the great state of Nevada, the term “person” applies to every human being.”
Article I Section 8 of the Nevada Constitution states, “No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.” However, currently some Nevadans are deprived of their inalienable civil rights, specifically their fundamental right to live, due to an arbitrary and discriminatory distinction between person and human being.
While the state has no authority to grant inalienable rights, it has the obligation to protect them. Said Richard Ziser, Chairman of Personhood Nevada, “With an ever more oppressive federal government lacking leadership in protecting the weakest and most vulnerable in our midst, the people of Nevada are taking necessary action to correct this injustice. This amendment addresses the most important civil right, the right to live, without which all other civil rights are rendered irrelevant.”
This amendment benefits all Nevadans by guaranteeing, as envisioned by our founding fathers, that no one shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. It eliminates discrimination against Nevadans at the beginning of life and prohibits government intrusion and heavy-handed pressure in end-of-life decisions.
Recognizing life is a continuum with ups and downs, this amendment codifies the inalienable right to life for everyone, young or old, healthy or ill, conscious or unconscious, born or unborn. It assures protection and dignity to our children, our infirmed and our seniors.
The amendment applies the term “person” to every human being in a straightforward manner understandable by all, including children. Scientifically, the term ‘human being’ includes everyone possessing a human genome specific for an individual member of the human species, from the beginning of his or her biological development, without discrimination as to age, health, reproduction method, function, physical or mental dependency, or cognitive ability.
As a citizen-led initiative, approximately 97,000 signatures are necessary for the proposed amendment to be placed on the 2010 statewide ballot. Personhood Nevada welcomes volunteers and anticipates beginning to collect signatures shortly.
For further information visit www.cacsn.org visit or contact Ken Wilson at Ken@cacsn.org. You may also call or fax 702-248-1294.
- Personhood Nevada is looking for key volunteers to support this effort through-out the state. If you are called to play a role in this effort, please contact Ken.

CDC Report Says Abortion Down
[NevadaLIFE] -- Yesterday's CDC report shows that the abortion rate- the number of women having abortions, is down 33 percent. This shows that our hard fought pro-life efforts and strategy are paying off.
It's common to hear people say pro-lifers haven't accomplished anything since we still have Roe v. Wade. That's nonsense. Other special interest groups can only dream of the successes we've had. Not only has the abortion rate gone down in the last two decades, the abortion ratio-the ratio of abortions per thousand pregnancies has declined. The number of abortions is down twenty-five percent even as our population has risen by tens of millions!
We're also changing the culture on abortion. Poll after poll shows that America is pro-life and that a majority would oppose almost all abortions except rape and incest (less than 1 percent) and the life of the mother.
Better news it that we are winning the next generation. Two-thirds of graduating seniors in 2006 said that abortion is always or almost always morally wrong (p. 13, Q 4 in link). More and more women and men are willing to talk about their abortions negative impact, ultra sound leaves no doubt what the unborn is, abortion advocates gripe about the hundreds and hundreds of abortion curbing laws in the 50 states, there are more crisis pregnancy centers than abortion clinics, and fewer and fewer doctors willing to do abortions.
