Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
—Psalm 139:16
Human beings ‐‐ God’s tapestries. Psalm 139 is a psalm that reveals the enormity and otherness of God. His di‐vine attributes are on display: omnis‐cience (2‐4), omnipresence (7‐12), lov‐ing‐kindness (17‐18), justice (19‐20), righteousness (23‐24), and omnipotence. Yet, when it came to express this last attribute, what example did the psalm‐ist use – God’s creation of mountains, seas, or far‐flung galaxies? No, he used none of these. To express the wonder of God’s unparalleled creative power he writer mentions the fashioning of he human in the womb (14‐16).
The Hebrew word used to express God’s forming of us in the womb, raqam, is the same term for needle‐work or embroidery. In other words, we are a tapestry that displays God’s artistic mastery. And, like the artist who knows his crea‐tion down to the last detail, God intimately knows us. This reality provokes the writer to awe and wonder. He proclaims, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” What is true for this psalmist is true for each human being. Each is fashioned by God and known by him and we can proclaim on behalf of each, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Prayer: Gracious God, help us to appreciate the wonder and beauty of Your creation. Help us proclaim on behalf of every one of our fellow human beings, “I am
fearfully and wonderfully made.” May the knowledge that we are inti‐mately known by You shape our lives and actions. Amen.

NYC, the Abortion Capital of America
The National campaign reports on how the campaign is progressing around the country. Here is an excerpt from today’s update.
Well, it’s Friday, and 40 Days for Life campaign director Shawn Carney is on the road headed to New York City — a location described as “the abortion capital of America.” That phrase is the title of a New York Magazine article. It was published a few years ago, but the story still paints an accurate picture of the uphill battle pro-lifers face in the nation’s largest city. More than 100,000 abortions are performed in New York City every year. There are almost three dozen abortion facilities there.
To quote from the magazine article:
In absolute terms, there are more abortions performed on minors, more repeat abortions, and more late abortions (over 21 weeks) in New York City than anywhere else in the country. In parts of the city, the ratio of abortions to births is one to one.
Fortunately, people are willing to do something about it. One of those people is Chris Slattery, who runs a group of pregnancy resource centers and a variety of other pro-life outreaches. Chris is also helping lead 40 Days for Life campaigns in two of New York’s boroughs, Queens (where there are two abortion clinics side by side) and The Bronx.

Wrap-up Rally & Celebration, Nov 1st, 5 pm
Just around the corner is our Wrap-up Celebration, at which we will blow a Shofar at the sidewalk to mark the end of the campaign. After a brief Rally at the sidewalk, we will proceed by car, slightly less than 2 miles to the River Rock Christian Fellowship, located at 4690 Longley Lane, Reno. At 6 pm there will be a Pot Luck Dinner, followed by a movie at 7 pm. Please download a copy of our Flyer and ask your church to post it this weekend. www.40DaysforLife.com/RenoTahoe/flyer

- Carson City Church Fair – Volunteer Needed – Sat Oct 31, noon – 5 pm
- The St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City will be having a fair on Oct 30-31, from noon – 5 pm each day, during which we have been invited to promote 40 Days for Life. Thank you to the two volunteers, Laura and Joe, who have stepped up to help on Friday. Now we need at least one volunteer to assist on Saturday. Does your schedule permit you to join in this opportunity to share the message regarding 40 Days for Life with church-goers who are likely to be open to the message of life? - Mark your calendars for a true celebration, as we honor God for all the graces He has showered upon our campaign, this Fall and since we began this effort in the Fall of 2007. November 1st is the Catholic All Saints Day feast, the perfect time to join in celebration of all the Saints who have given their lives in service to Our Lord and to Thank Christ for the many graces He has showered on our campaign for the past 40 Days as we have sought to do His will. We have planned an event you will not want to miss. River Rock Christian Fellowship, having been recently blessed with a new Church home less than 2 miles from the West End Abortion Site, has graciously offered to allow us to use their facility for a Pot-Luck Dinner and Pro-Life Movie Night. We will end the 40 Day campaign with the blowing of the shofar at the sidewalk at 5 pm, along with a brief rally of prayer, scripture and sharing, and then we will proceed by car to their church for a pot-luck dinner of Celebration, as we fellowship and share our experiences of the past 40 Days. Our evening will conclude with a Pro-Life movie. Please, print a copy of our FLYER and with your Pastor’s permission, post it at your church for this weekend.
