National Campaign Daily Intention
May all understand more deeply that the pro‐life message is rooted in two basic truths of life: 1) There is a God 2) He isn’t me
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.—Genesis 2:7
From the beginning of the Bible until the end, the theme is echoed that God alone has dominion over human life. He made it; shared it; died to save it; will raise it up forever. The act of creation described in Genesis 2:7, and earlier in Genesis 1:26‐27, is a sovereign act. God did not have to do it, and would have been happy for‐ever without us. Yet without our asking for it or earning it, God brought us out of nothingness and into life, and sustains our existence at every moment. And He does so in Christ: “For by Him all things were created…in Him all things exist” (Colossians 1:16‐17). “You are not your own,” Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 6. God alone owns us. While He entrusts us to the care of one another, He does not allow any human being to own another.
A Southern California abortionist, James McMahon, once explained how he justified killing children after 20 weeks gestation by the process known as partial‐birth abortion. He did not deny that this was a child, but rather asked, “Who owns the child? It’s got to be the mother.” The struggle over abortion is really a struggle over the dominion of God. The Christian individual, and the Christian Church, cannot sit idly by when others declare that God is not God.

What Does God Have in Store?
The National campaign reports on why we pray at the abortion site, even when it is not open for business. Here is an excerpt from today’s update.
… Beth and James spent time praying at Planned Parenthood in Phoenix when the facility was closed. "We were the only ones there," said James, "just praying quietly by ourselves." Two teenage girls walked by, and James asked if they knew the building was an abortion center. But they just kept walking. A few minutes later, however, the girls came back. "One of them started by asking us if we were going to adopt and raise the babies we were trying to save from abortion, and saying how awful the foster care system is for kids," he said. "It was clear they came back just to challenge us."
Right about that time, a man walked up and offered cold drinks to Beth and James (this is Phoenix, and it's still very hot there). The man had heard the conversation, and began to tell the girls that he had been born in a home for unwed mothers and was adopted. That opened the way for further discussion, and this time the girls were all ears. "These two girls listened to everything we, and the gentleman, had to say," said James. "They said they respected us and what we were doing and believed; you could see their whole outlook had changed." As the girls walked away, James and Beth "knew why the Lord had brought us out there at that time, on a day when there was no real compelling reason to be there, except for obedience; for two girls to whom we could have easily not reached out, except for a still, small voice." …

Reaching Them Where They Are
I went to the sidewalk yesterday, spending a little over an hour dodging the sprinkler while trying to stay focused on prayer. I found that Dr. Stutes appears to be modifying the hours that the young women are coming and going from his abortion site, perhaps in response to the constant presence of Richard in the early morning and again in the early afternoon. I was there from 12 noon until approximately 1:30 and found that several cars were leaving, apparently having completed the purpose of their visit, and several cars entered to conduct business. The cars appeared to be more willing, for the most part, to stop and receive the literature I was offering, than has been my experience in the past. We have the potential of reaching these abortion vulnerable, and post-abortive wounded, but we need to maintain the constant vigil that we had at the beginning of the campaign. Please come to the sidewalk. Also, please pray for those who are planning to follow through with an appointment at this place of death.
It has also been brought to our attention that Dr. Stutes is also offering services unrelated to providing an abortion. One of the families I talked to as they entered the abortion site indicated that they were coming for medical care and were not planning on having an abortion. Today, another young woman stopped at the sidewalk to assure our volunteer that she was not going to obtain an abortion, even though she did not know how she could possible afford to raise another child. When Rachel offered her assistance to go elsewhere, including even providing the necessary finances to pay for another doctor, she was resistant, indicating that she needed immediate confirmation that her child was 17 weeks along, so she could begin receiving Medicaid assistance.
We need to ensure that the local Crisis Pregnancy Center has the resources necessary to serve these abortion vulnerable patients whenever they need care. It is by having ultrasounds available on a drop-in basis that we will turn the tide on this problem. Please remember to support the CPC’s in our area. For a complete list of Crisis Pregnancy Resources in our region, go to www.40DaysforLife.com/RenoTahoe/LocalAgencies
Please, spend an hour at the sidewalk tomorrow and then send me an email telling about your experiences! To register for the hours when you’ll be at the sidewalk, go to: http://www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe I thank you in advance for your assistance with this effort.
Send your impressions of your time at the sidewalk to renotahoe@40DaysforLife.com.

Coming Events
- A Vigil of Mourning – Tuesday, Oct 13, 6:00 pm
- On the thirteenth of each month, a group gathers on the sidewalk outside the abortion site to remember the lives that will never be lived, the potential never realized because of the tragedy of abortion. Come join them, dressed in mourning, as they pray for God’s Mercy. You are welcome to bring a large votive candle.
- Pro-Life Solidarity Day – Oct 20, All Day
- [Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust] "The Survivors challenge students of all ages to be bold advocates for the 3,500 preborn who are murdered everyday in our country. You have an opportunity to stand with your fellow classmates and an obligation to be a voice for the voiceless. By standing in united solidarity across the world, students everywhere can identify with the preborn children, and our silence will proclaim 'stop killing our generation!' We can and must be warriors for the preborn!" Read the article from Survivors regarding this day long event.

40 Days through Scripture
- Day 17: John 15 – 19 (including: John 17:20-23)
- I pray not only for them, but also for those who believe in me because of their message. I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent me. I gave them the same glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as you and I are one: I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me.
This is how Christ prayed as he awaited his arrest, conviction and ultimate crucifixion. Certainly each word that comes from the mouth of God has import, but is it not possible that these last words prayed before his arrest might have special significance? I believe that it is through the Pro-Life movement that we are called bring together the Body of Christ, to work as a united one as we address this most significant evil, the active, intentional killing of the most innocent among us.
The world has had difficulties and evils to overcome since the fall of Adam and Eve, but never before in the history of man has man willfully killed the innocent on such a scale as is seen today. That all of Christendom is not up in arms is a grave scandal against the Truth and Charity taught by Christ and which he expects from those who call themselves his followers.

Campus Life Tour at Mira Costa College
[Survivors] Recently the campus life tour team went to Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA. While Amanda Lord was debating a young girl on abortion, a gentleman in his forties walked up. He hesitated as I offered him a piece of literature, and said he was pro-choice. Intrigued, I asked for an explanation, to which he responded, “This is all about Jesus. I’m not into that. This world is selfish.” Before defending my position, I planned to ask him more questions about abortion. But before I could, he started ranting about how he’d been hurt by a church and that was why he was no longer a believer and why he pops pain killers. Suddenly, the girl who was engaged in conversation with Amanda turned towards us and started helping me counsel this man. I told him that his relationship with Christ shouldn’t be dependant on some church’s corruption. We talked for about an hour trying to explain to him that the Bible is the most historical and logical explanation of the universe and how we all got here. That was a point he could agree with. We asked him to consider surrendering his life to Christ. Pondering the request, he told us that sometimes he thinks that life is not worth living, and that as an art student he doesn’t see beauty in life anymore and finds himself drawing satanic things. … Read the End of the Storyto see how Pro-Life ministry is really a call to bring people home to Christ.

Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize to Shock of Journalists & Pro-Life Leaders
[LifeSiteNews] Early this morning, the Nobel Committee awarded U.S. President Barack Obama the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, prompting shock both from journalists and pro-life leaders.
The award, the Committee says, was given to President Obama "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." The Committee says that they have "attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons."
They credit him, further, with having "created a new climate in international politics." "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," they say.
Pundits point out that the Nobel committee's rush to give Obama the award is likely unprecedented since he had only been in office for 12 days before the February nomination deadline for the prize. "The prize seems to be more for Obama's promise than for his performance," comments Jennifer Loven of the Associated Press. "Work on the president's ambitious agenda, both at home and abroad, is barely underway, much less finished. He has no standout moment of victory that would seem to warrant a verdict as sweeping as that issued by the Nobel committee." Read the story on-line

Protect American Healthcare – Vote No on Obama Care
[League of American Voters] The major TV networks don't even let revenue get in the way of their biased coverage in favor of President Obama's agenda.
ABC and NBC in particular seem afraid of a simple 30-second advertisement. Both networks have refused to run an ad proposed for national telecast by the League of American Voters, a nonprofit group with 15,000 members. The supposedly offensive ad makes the simple claim that the proposed government-run health care program would ration medical care.
ABC won't run the ad because it says it is "partisan." NBC won't run it because that network says it questions the ad's facts. So what does the script of this horribly troublesome ad say? Read the entire article

Oppose Abortion Funding and Mandates in Health Care Reform!
[NCHLA, National Committee for a Human Life Amendment] Congress is preparing to debate health care reform legislation on the House and Senate floors. Genuine health care reform should protect the life and dignity of all people from the moment of conception until natural death. The U.S. bishops’ conference has concluded that all committee-approved bills are seriously deficient on the issues of abortion and conscience, as well as on access to health care for immigrants and the poor. The bills will have to change or the bishops will have to oppose them. Learn more and Take Action
