National Campaign Daily Intention
May those who hold life as trivial realize that we live because God wills it so.
Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.— Job 12:9-10
Job was a man acquainted with grief, trials and tribulation. He had every‐thing taken from him, including his family. He endured sickness, ridicule and judgment from his friends. Everyone gave him advice about his situation, questioning his spirituality and his God. Job’s circumstances were bad but he never loses faith. Why? Be‐cause “the hand of the Lord has made all life.” Created by God, he knows his life has meaning and purpose, regardless of the circumstances.
In our present culture, we’ve lost that basic truth; every life is made and allowed to live by God’s sovereign authority. As people who pride ourselves on our independence, we have a hard time acknowledging our dependence on God. From our creation, when we were knit together in our mother’s womb to our last breath, God’s word is clear that “in His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
It’s time for us as individuals, and as a society, to recognize that we exist by God’s grace and turn back to Him, honoring His word and His teachings. Why? Because our world is full of Jobs, people who are dealing with trials and tribulations and hurting desperately. Job’s response should be ours as well. Regardless of what we face (even an unplanned pregnancy) God in His wisdom and mercy will redeem it.
How do I know? Job’s friends who doubted God’s sovereignty cry out to God asking for help, God instructs Job to pray for his friends and after he does, God restores all that Job had lost.
In other words, because Job never lost faith and knew and trusted His Creator, the Lord blessed Job.

Pray for Those who are Angry
The National campaign reports on how the campaign is progressing around the country. Here is an excerpt from today’s update. In the meantime, there have been 251 lives saved thus far.
You know, there is great joy in this work we are doing together and the blessings God is providing. But it's also clear that there's much sadness and hostility in this world -- and that's honestly not surprising in a culture that tolerates the destruction of the unborn. The night before last, while my wife Margaret was sharing words of encouragement with the assembled volunteers at the Burlington, Vermont 40 Days for Life vigil, a car load of college students drove by and repeatedly screamed at the top of their lungs: "There is no God!"
We pray for those who harbor such anger..…

Prayer Volunteer Commits to 40 Hours in 40 Days
One volunteer has shared that on day 20 of the campaign she had managed to log 21 hours of time praying at the sidewalk, while another said she’s committing to taking the time between school ends and soccer practice begins to stand and pray at the sidewalk. Another suffers a debilitating handicap that prevents her from knowing when she’ll have the energy to get out of the house, but when she has the energy, she finds her way to the sidewalk, where she feels that her prayers make a difference.
Have you been to the sidewalk lately? Please, spend an hour at the sidewalk tomorrow and send an email telling about your experiences! To register for the hours when you’ll be at the sidewalk, go to: http://www.vigilcalendar.com/renotahoe. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this effort. Send your impressions of your time at the sidewalk to renotahoe@40DaysforLife.com.

Coming Events
- Midway Rally – Saturday, Oct 17, 7:00 pm
- Join us for a special announcement regarding progress being made in the Pro-Life front in the state of Nevada. Join us as we also share why we know abortion is never a valid solution to the challenge of an unplanned pregnancy.
- Pro-Life Solidarity Day – Oct 20, All Day
- [Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust] "The Survivors challenge students of all ages to be bold advocates for the 3,500 preborn who are murdered everyday in our country. You have an opportunity to stand with your fellow classmates and an obligation to be a voice for the voiceless. By standing in united solidarity across the world, students everywhere can identify with the preborn children, and our silence will proclaim 'stop killing our generation!' We can and must be warriors for the preborn!" Read the article from Survivors regarding this day long event.

40 Days through Scripture
- Day 22: Acts 21 – 26 (including: Acts 25:24-29)
- While Paul was so speaking in his defense, Festus said in a loud voice, “You are mad, Paul; much learning is driving you mad.” But Paul replied, “I am not mad, most excellent Festus; I am speaking words of truth and reason. The king knows about these matters and to him I speak boldly, for I cannot believe that [any] of this has escaped his notice; this was not done in a corner. King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you believe.” Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You will soon persuade me to play the Christian.” Paul replied, “I would pray to God that sooner or later not only you but all who listen to me today might become as I am except for these chains.”
Paul demonstrated that even in difficult situations, one must continue to strive to bring those around oneself to Christ, as he strove to do with King Festus, and we see that these efforts have the potential for success. Is it possible that our efforts, even with staunch Pro-Choice individuals might be successful? If we don’t try, we’ll never know and we most certainly will never be successful in bringing them to the truth of the sanctity of life.

Mother Says Miss. Doctor Refused Care to Baby Girl Born at 22 Weeks
[LifeSiteNews.com, By Kathleen Gilbert] - In a case echoing the tragic story of Britain's Sarah Capewell and son Jayden, a Mississippi mother says that her neonatologist refused to help her baby daughter survive because he believed she was too young, at 22 weeks 4 days gestation, to merit intervention.
Necie Franklin of Flowood, Mississippi, told LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) that Dr. Kenny Robbins of River Oaks Hospital refused to treat daughter Jessa Mackenzie after she was born suddenly in May, because she was three days shy of 23 weeks gestation - at which point he would have considered treating her at the hospital's Level II neonatal intensive care unit.
Franklin said that Jessa gasped for breath twice while in her arms, but was told by nurses that it was "just a reaction" - leading her to believe the child had died. Only after Jessa had been taken away, says Franklin, did she learn that the child still had a heartbeat. Read the Entire Article.

Fetal Development
[Science for the Unborn Human Life] For a report of scientific paper sourced facts on fetal development, visit the Science for the Unborn Human Life site. There you will find information, such as the following:
- Conception: The difference between male and female is determined genetically at the time of conception.
- Weeks 1-3. The beginnings of the various organ systems are established, especially in the third week when certain key organs develop.
- Week 3. The central nervous system appears, the blood vessels begin to develop. Somites, which will develop into the vertebrae in the spinal column, are growing.
- Week 4. The face can be visualized as early as 4 weeks. Although the embryo begins developing immediately after conception, the most visible advances occur during the third to eighth week. The mother typically does not yet know she is pregnant at this point, while the embryo is quite vulnerable. The brain’s division – the forebrain, the midbrain and the hindbrain – are demarcated. The liver cells begin to draw together and the thyroid gland starts to develop.
- Week 6. Hiccups first occur, the eye is obvious and retinal pigment is forming.
- Week 7. Ears and nose start to appear, eyelids form, Fingers start to develop, Elbows form, hair follicles appear. Heart contracts at 40 – 80 beats per minute, Startles first occur, isolated arm and leg movements first occur. Liver is developing.
- Week 8. The brain can be visualized using Doppler ultrasound, feet are well formed, ossification begins in the legs, stimuli induces partial closing of fingers, opening of mouth and squinting, taste buds begin to form. Embryo’s at 8 weeks have been observed inserting fingers into the mouth, stretching and closing eyelids. Breathing movements are first seen at 8 – 9 ½ weeks. The major blood vessels of the body take on their final scheme. All regions of the arms and legs are well developed, including the toes. The embryonic period concludes at the end of the 8th week after fertilization and the Fetal period begins.
- Week 9. Upper and lower lips are forming, hair follicles first appear on the eyebrows, eyelids, upper lip and chin. Tongue movements occur and yawning observed.
- Week 10.Fingernails and toenail are present. Sucking and swallowing first occur. The fetus responds to sound.
- Week 11. Stimulus near mouth results in the fetus opening of the mouth and sucking on fingers. Head rotations are observed.
- Week 12. Gender is well enough determined externally to be determined by ultrasound. Fetus responds to stimulation of the skin. Spleen forms red blood cells. Long bones and skull appear to be ossified. The spinal cord extends the entire length of the fetus.
- Week 13. Respiratory movements can transport amniotic fluid in and out of the respiratory tract. Eyebrows are present. Fetus uses backwards somersaults to change position.
- Week 14. Eye movements are observed. The mother first begins feeling fetal movement.
